Anyone ask why this isn’t in studios where it makes a bit of sense?

…I’ll see myself out now 🚪
Yeah I kinda don’t get it. A lot of casual park goers will probably have no idea it’s there. Also riding an authentic looking African train to… Australia? (At this point I hear the beginning of the Thrift Shop song playing in my head, where Maxwell is going “What? What? What? What, what?”, ha ha).

It's a children's area with a petting zoo. I seriously doubt very young children are pining for the good old days. The overlay is using an IP they know to keep them interested in animals. Parents have to intentionally board a train to get to the very edge of the park near Western Way for this experience anyway. It's not going to take away anything from the rest of AK.
Lies. I heard a child today, just minutes ago, screaming for the Eisner days. Not sure why this was happening at Walmart in the cereal aisle, but it happened. Trust me. Totally.

My hope is Disney NEVER purchases this IP and just pays the license fee.

My worry is once Disney purchases an IP (and probably overpays), the IP will eventually be destroyed by Disney.

Just my opinion.

With the trainwreck that is Zootopia, the Dinoland replacement most likely being "Encanto-land" more than anything else, and now this - it's safe to say that DAK being the only WDW park that retained its original purpose, vision, and theme is now over.

They truly do not care anymore about the parks being anything other than grab bags of marketing tie-ins.
Tropical america looks for all purposes like a continuation of Africa and Asia so no, not at all. Dinoland was as permanent feeling as Camp minnie mickey. And why is it Encanto land when that’s literally 1/5 of the whole land?

I thought that the carousel and restaurant would also be Encanto but I guess I was wrong. But offff courrrse the carousel has to be "a wood worker's favorite Disney characters". It can't just be culture based anymore, or unique and interesting just for the sake of it - it has to be IP. Today's Disney Park goer must be doing the Leo Points At the TV at all times while in the parks.

You are conflating DinoRama, a small, crappy section, with DinoLand USA as a whole, which the rest of it was well themed and permanent feeling. and Camp MinnieMickey was rightfully replaced with something more permanent.

Dinorama made up 2/3 of the land. Primeval whirl, triceratop spin, a bunch of carnival games, the gift shop… Plus restaurantosaurus was nothing to write home about. Only DINOSAUR and the boneyard felt permanent of any kind.

Objectively false. In terms of space dedicated, DinoRama was about 1/3rd of the total land. The rest of Dinoland USA was as elaborately themed as the rest of DAK. This video is a good walkthrough:

Off theme like Tropical america isn’t as much fitting as Africa and Asia. LMAOOOOOO

Yes, that was the theme of ANIMAL Kingdom. Geographic areas. Can't think of anything else that might've been the focus.

I know, I know, I'm supposed to pretend they'll make the rides educational and focused on the animals. Then when that doesn't happen I'm supposed to pretend the park always just wanted them there and being the focus was never important.

"This is off theme." "It's okay because I don't like Dino-Rama."

Again. EVERY TIME.

Yep. This was the same attitude with Tough to Be a Bug. "It's okay, because it was outdated. Zootopia may not totally fit but at least it will still probably be a good attraction!"

(Narrator: "It wasn't.")

Note how Asia wasn't just an excuse to shove in a Mulan attraction and Africa wasn't just Lion King Land (the show being moved there later on to make room for Pandora).

Or how all the thematic elements in both villages are true to their regions and culture and they don't make up something about Nepal sculptors creating statues of their favorite Disney characters.

Exactly! Africa and Asia have ANIMALS in them.

Tropical Americas is just an excuse to put two IPs that aren't about animals in the park.

Yes that's true. Flights of wonder did have that UP overlay for a bit, though. Dinoland was simply a tacky roadside carnival with some flat rides, and one decent attraction with a small animal area.

Both Harambe and Anandapur are fictional villages as well. If anything TA seems more fitting at DAK then Dinoland did, but until the final product its all heresy. Also hand-sculpted figures sounds alot more appealing than lightly themed spinner and a coaster with a few cardboard dinosaurs, even if one is IP.
