Whew, it's dangerous outside!! It rained Thursday and all the snow melted, but then it snowed Friday afternoon/Saturday and so we had a good inch of fresh powder. Yesterday the temps got down to about -15C, so everything was quite frozen, but because we had gotten so much snow last week, a lot of cities used up their salt supplies, so they couldn't salt the roads and bike paths after this last batch of snow. Yesterday the high was -5, but today the high is 5, and it was already above zero at 8 this morning, so a lot of that snow has turned to slush and it's slick as snot out there. They cleared the main street, but not the bike paths and not the residential areas, so it was really slick. I had to walk my bike most of the way home from the doctors office because it was so slippery that there's no way to safely step off the bike. I didn't want to slip and slide into the street and get hit by a car, so I just walked most of the way.

That's the thing that makes me wonder about Amazon Prime. I don't know the yearly cost to join but it seems like waste of money. So everything gets free delivery and one day delivery. Why, unless it is an oxygen tank there isn't much of anything that one can't wait a couple more days for. I buy a lot of things, at least I think it is a lot and I try to make sure that when I do order something I wait until I have one or more than one thing that will get me to the free delivery thing. I had a couple of things last year that I had to pay $6.00 in shipping charges other than that not paid a nickel for shipping.

I do have a membership with BJ's Warehouse (Costco's younger Brother by one year) but I only do it to buy a few things a year that I use a lot of and it is cheaper plus I save about 40 cents per gallon on gas.
I go to BJ's once a month

I thought about him the other day after the Packers got upset in the playoff game against Chicago. :(

Made me think of better times, being e-friends here as he went through college, got his teaching career rolling, all the "I Blame Meg" good times and humor. Then everything sorta dissipated after that 2017 NFC Championship game when Atl overtook GB to go on to the Super Bowl Wasn't trying to upset you old friend, it was just a game

We hardly ever spoke again here after that. It's a shame what sports can do, considering they are meant to be fun.
Even old friends like @NYwdwfan not speaking after that crazy ending to the 2022 NL East pennant chase in baseball.
Sports are supposed to be FUN, not offend people and push them away.

Anyhow, miss you all in that large fun group gossip PM we had, especially Betty.
Gosh we need her back to be the glue that held everything together here.

Will keep trying extending the olive branches...
Did my best over the holidays by trying to send someone seasons greetings in a PM, setting the example of how kindness works.

With the exception of the gas pumps it probably averages about once every month and a half.

Last week I went and picked up a couple of things that came to $41.00. When I was leaving and waiting for my turn at the theft security receipt check, I was behind a person(s) with 3 mounded shopping carts. The checker looked overwhelmed and walked around the carts and finally let them just leave. I'm next with my 4 items and I said to the guy. Wow, they must be having one big party how did you check it all off that quick. He replied "I figured when someone just spent $3000.00 here I'm not going to go to crazy with accuracy".

I figured, judging from the amount of protein they had in one of the carts that they either owned a restaurant, food truck, had a large freezer and they shop once a year or they are preparing for the apocalypse. Of course, it might also have been @Figgy1 doing the weekly shopping!

I've seen people from Block Island come to my local BJ's which is about 40 minutes driving to a ferry plus an hour by ferry so I have no idea how the food stayed safe and anything frozen didn't melt.

And they had carts full of stuff.

This was before high speed ferry days.

The 2016 (2017 NFC Championship) is not one to upset me. Now, nearly every other year you can point to a heartbreaking playoff loss for the Packers. But not that game. I knew we were going to get smoked. We were lucky to even be there. We had LaDarius Gunter as our #1 CB. Oh, you don't know who that is? An undrafted rookie as our best cover guy? Shocker.

In all seriousness, good to hear from you again! I hope you're doing well. :)

I went back on Saturday. Considering we ended up working from home every single day (including Christmas!), it was almost a relief to get back in the office where we had access to all of our files and office “stuff”, especially our admins. 😂

Playing serious “ketchup” here, but…
We (the firm) worked from home for a grand total of 6 weeks during Covid. Oddly enough, we were busy as heck the whole time, but, even with all the communicative technology, production slumped, as architectural design and development are such a collaborative thing.
Anyway, all but a few of us (e.g., one coworker had a son at home with leukemia) were directed to head back to the office.
They put up higher, makeshift, partitions, we had walking traffic patterns, we could only take our masks off in our office or at a workstation (if by ourselves), etc.
If a coworker got the coco, an email was sent out, and anyone who had close-ish contact with that coworker had to test, if they weren’t already testing regularly anyway.
Even with all the craziness, production improved immensely, and we never looked back.
I, personally, always preferred working at the office, and not from home…!!! :)

I am constitutionally opposed to paying for delivery. (Parking too, unless I have no option. I’ll walk 10 blocks before I’ll pay four bucks. 😂)

In 40 years together, you can count on one hand how many times Mike and I have paid for food delivery.

Same.
And, I’ll drive 3 miles outta’ my way (each direction) to get Mathew to and from work to avoid the approx. $2 toll in each direction.
Take him and back home, pick him up and back home…almost $8…no friggin’ way. :cyclops:

C’mon snow day! Mama needs an extra day off!View attachment 902796

30cm is a foot.
That's not fit for man nor beasts/capybaras. I'd call that snow day weather for sure
I wish dh wasn't at work because currently everything is a sheet of ice here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed road conditions are better by sunrise, I've heard the plow twice in the past hour and a half

Todays trip down…

So, goin’ back through more old photos in another album, I ran into the below pic of a sketch I did back in 2010.
It’s of an idea I had for a section of a Disney-themed waterslide…a tube-to-tube jump for a little “airtime”…!!!!!🤪:hilarious:
