News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Gets Darth Vader in Major Timeline Expansion

They were already beginning to "merge" timelines with the addition of The Mandalorian coming to Millennium Falcon.
I’m aware. I think this will all be great fun. I just think that galaxies edge as it first existed gets way too much flak for trying something cool and interesting with its original story so I’m glad their weaving the original trilogy characters into it instead of just shoving them in there for the sake of it.

Now we just need the walk around droids, aliens, and the role-playing/interactive elements of the land that never happened (and no the app scanner thing doesn't count).

To be honest droids and aliens will go a long way to make it feel it feel like you're in Star Wars, even more so than just adding Luke, Leia and Han. I think just adding original trilogy characters will result in the land still feeling empty and like a theme park land. They really need a way to consistently have droids and aliens roaming.

They tried, but when the budget was cut they didn't really see what little was left.. they were myopically focused on the major set pieces and not on if there were any real story left instead of random objects and splashed concrete. They suffered from hubris believing those few attractions would blind the audience.

I'm glad that the collective management has decided to pivot at least on the westcoast to fill in some of those glaring holes. We still haven't set foot in splashed concrete land East in three years.. not even the pink 'milk' draws our interest.

Good first step but ideally these changes would have came with an attraction that’s centered around the OT. Still waiting for that Speederbike/ Endor/ Ewok coaster or a Luke X Wing Death Star trench run coaster. I want to see some Ewoks. I want some creatures/ aliens. Lightsabers. The Force. Currently lightsabers in terms of show are pretty much paywalled. A Jabba the Hutt AA somewhere. A yoda walk through with projections. A dungeon with an AA Rancor. Stuff like that. I’d like for there to be more of a sense of discovery and exploration.

They built a 14 acre Star Wars Land where they paywalled lightsabers and there is no mention of the force. Lol

They get credit now for listening to the fans, but they got into that ess by listening to the fans too. They thought people wanted a hyper-realistic role playing stage where a land was designed to be in a specific time and place. They thought people wanted something akin to the original Frontierland, where it set in a specific time and place in history and the place making supports that time setting.

In the end: none of that was ever really true in Walt's time and it wasn't true now either. Woody and the Country Bears belong as much into Frontierland as Luke and Leia do in Galaxy's Edge. People just don't think these creative decisions at the level that creatives do.

Maybe that's an important lesson for WDI and maybe even some of the fans as well.

No im just talking about the land…to be civil

Don’t me get started on the “sequel” movies…cause they weren’t.

Don’t step on that Rock…there’s something with a rattle underneath 🐍
Then what were you referring to when you said there wasn’t a story? Because I think you know that’s not true.

You’re opinion is yours and you have rights to it.

But what DONT you like that they have done?
I have posted numerous criticisms of Disney. Like this
On the topic of the playground I really hate to sound nit-picky I really do but the sulley slide seems like a really weird touch. In the world of monsterpolis why would a slide be painted to look like him? We don’t have slides themed to energy company ceos in our world. It’s completely non-diegetic. (Yes I’m aware no such thing has been confirmed to be happening)
Or this.
i don’t understand. Can’t we already make funny videos ourselves using voiceclips of these characters? Why do we need Al to do it for us?
Or this.
To copy paste my thoughts from another thread I know this started production before Moana 2 even came out but why not just make Moana 3?
Or this.
Which I think makes it an even stranger move on Disneys part to close muppetvision. Every thing else they’re doing suggests a return to prominence for the muppets akin to the early to mid 2010s when the muppet movie(2011) came out. So why close one of the most important parts of muppet history as you plan all this?

I think you are stating a general euphoria for Disney more than an assessment of the components.
Brand loyalty has nothing to do with it. I like Disney because they generally make a quality product I enjoy.
