New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

How are they okay with not using two empty buildings. And no people mover? They expect to bring more ticket sales with the 3 day bargain happening now.
Disney Adults will pay anything (even if they can't afford it) to get in the place. So why do they care if resources are unused and it affects capacity? It just costs money to run them anyway.

As long as this person still the highest AP pass and goes weekly, Disney isn't going to change anything.

1. redoing a land can be justified by arguing to improves the value of a currently existing footprint
2. if imagineering had plans back in 2019 it means they still want too, just a matter of when

It’s easy for them to justify a FL expansion on Autopia’s land but much harder justifying a TL redo. I’d imagine we’d see a Fantasyland expansion before any TL redo. They just have to decide if Frozen is going in DL proper or in one of the expansion pads. Personally I’d rather have a BatB or Mary Poppins presence at DL proper but something tells me that just like with Avatar, they might not want to wait that long and get Frozen in there asap.

my hot take is I wouldn't mind if they leveled half of TL and FL and redid both of those lands

Practically, Disney will eventually have to bite the bullet and do something with TL. The space usage in the rest of the park is already about as optimized as It can be. Whereas there's a ton of literal empty and underutilized space in TL, even leaving Autopia and the Lagoon alone.

The question then becomes how long do they drag this out?

The TL part isn’t really a hot take but FL? Unless you consider Autopia and the FL theatre as half the land?
I mean I consider FL theater a huge waist of space and also was referring to the abandoned boat area by matterhorn and SW where the Monorail, PM, and Autopia all get tangled. which I feel is half. I would also say while I like the storybook boats I also wouldn't mind if they shorten the ride to add sm between Frointerland and the boats or add sm between SW and the matterhorn. ie besides the area around the carousel plus Alice, SW, and Matterhorn, there's a lot of space I feel could be used better.

Also I love the subs, but honestly it takes such a large footprint and I would suggest moving a theater area over in that area so it could be used by TL and FL, or a big ride or new land

The question is how is that value calculated? If its by attendance, ie number of guests on-board rides, well it already has a high value since the land is always full. Optimization of the footprint is not their core metric.

So the ROI on an overhaul of the land has to be likely tied to falling attendance, which is why its likely been pushed down the road time and again by executives. Basically why invest in an overhaul if guests will continue to go to the land as it is now, lets wait until we need to improve overall attendance to the land.

Right but when you say Autopia that land is assigned to Tomorrowland. So when you said bulldoze half of FL, I thought you meant half of actual Fantasyland which would mean some of the beloved attractions which would then actually be a hot take. Getting rid of the FL theatre and Motorboat cruise area isn’t really a hot take nor is it half of the land.

I heard somewhere if you bulldoze the land Autopia takes up, the submarines cannot survive due to the show building being literally underneath Autopia. So if we do get a Fantasyland expansion (probably Frozen), it will likely come at the expense of the Subs. Maybe not the Lagoon. Apparently there were talks of keeping the Lagoon in future plans.

My fear is they want to use this space up before touching Tomorrowland. I'd rather them fix what is broken before building more.

Right from what I understand you can’t build on the land that’s over the Subs show building. Im guessing they could work around that by not building on top that space and just using it for outdoor queues or guest walkways instead but Disney may not deem that to be the best use of space nor feel that preserving the subs or a version of the subs as worth the hassle. I feel like the old school imagineers would find a way to make it work.

You're right. If anything were to replace that area, definitely more attractions. People eaters. Ways to increase capacity. If the Liberty Belle Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island were demoed in Florida for the sake of increasing capacity, then for sure it can happen to the Submarines and Autopia, too.

Before Disneyland Forward was approved I favored removing Autopia. But now that DL has the Forward plot for expansion I'm leaning towards keeping Autopia. I know I'm in the minority on this, but I just think DL has more pressing projects. But if they do replace Autopia, I hope it's not just for Frozen.

The spaghetti bowl is about 7 acres to work with (6 if they keep the lagoon). Frozen Land at Hong Kong (with the coaster) is about 5 acres, so that's not a lot left over, maybe enough for a single attraction where the Autopia load is as a remaining part of Tomorrowland.

Not sure it's worth it for FL for me. Maybe ten years ago. But now it would be the fifth iteration...it's lost its luster for me. I think I'd rather have something unique to DL.

In addition, while still popular, I don't think it's the phenomenon it once was. At least not to warrant all that prime land. But I suppose we will see how it performs long-term in Paris. I agree on preferring something unique to DL.

idc they take the subs out as long as they keep the lagoon/water in some capacity

id also not be to quick to assume frozen land, like yeah maybe a frozen ride, but I also think Disney's moving away from single IP lands and more towards multi IP lands (yes there's exceptions) but even so think its much more likely they make a "princess corner" with Frozen, Sleeping Beauty, and Mulan or something. but also lets be honest most likely thing to be put here would be Zootopia in some capacity

I agree. For me for DL proper I think it has to be the BatB ride or an original Mary Poppins ride with an attached charming London park. I can’t think of any other FL appropriate IP that isn’t already represented, lends itself to an attraction or is worthy of that precious real estate. I mean I guess you could do something with Sleeping Beauty but we have the castle walkthrough. A Fantasia ride with a Chernabog climax could work too even if that doesn’t have a shot in hell. Frozen works too but I think a Frozen boat ride at Disneyland's Fantasyland is a bit redundant. Especially as the 5th version of said attraction. Then again do you want 7+ acres of precious expansion pad space to go to Frozen? Because it's going somewhere. If it has to go in DL proper id say it should just be the attraction. No land/ mini land. If its in the expansion pad than they can do whatever they want.
