And if I am correct, non locals can only purchase the $1629 plus tax, top tier AP ?
Just because you live in Florida, that doesn't make you "local". I have a four drive to get to WDW. You think I can just go at the drop of a hat? A drive from Pensacola is around 6 hours, give or take.

Here you go. Unless you're a local, they're useless. Anyone else making an advance trip needs to make reservations because there is no knowing ahead of time what days will be "Good to go." You're welcome.
If you’re a local it’s pretty useless too. I never make a reservation anyways, if I make it to the gate before 2pm and the turnstile goes blue I just step to the side and book one and then enter. Only time I ever book one in advance is the holidays, and even then they’re pretty useless.

And most other locals I know do the same thing, they never make park reservations. Eventually I think the reservation thing will die off because they just aren’t receiving very much data on who will be visiting when many APs don’t make a reservation.

My point is non FL residents can only purchase the $1629 plus tax, top tier AP AND must deal with PPR - NOT good in my opinion.

I wonder how often PPRs run out?

With all the blackout days APs have, are PPRs still needed?
I’ve seen it happen before but it’s usually on days where the park is so busy that I don’t want to be there anyway so I personally don’t have a problem but I can see why it’s a problem for others.
The only complaint is that AP’s still have to make reservations.
Those are the exact complaints I was expecting. I don’t have a problem with taking the extra minute to select which park I’m going to but it is pretty dumb that they only have pass holders and cast members doing it now. Ether make everyone do it or no one.

My post was more about my amusement at the fact that every time there is a post about free to go days it is usually followed by a page and a half of people who are still mad about park pass reservations existing.

The advantage of the top tier pass for out-of-staters is that it starts to become cost-efficient for those going more than 11 or 12 days compared to day-ticket prices. Then there are extra perks attached to them.

PPRs are only a concern on holiday weekends and Christmas week or for a special event, like the opening of a new ride.

99% of the time, you can declare a PPR while in line for the tapstile entrance. And even if the reservations are gone for a park, you can still get in by going to another park first, or going after 2 PM.

The system exists so that Disney can sorta close the entrance on super crowded days to keep the park from becoming bedlam.

Theoretically, they could suspend it and only use it on those few super-crowded days. But then people will forget about it and be caught off guard. Then, to avoid that, Disney could give out push warnings that a certain park's reservations are close to being 'sold out.' But that would only encourage the hectors on these boards to claim Disney is pushing FOMO.

Almost…vacation club can buy the $1179 plus tax one…

Mostly non-locals…

But since someone decided to bring it up…let’s break it down.

Even if you could sell they were “necessarily” for a year…that was 5 years ago.

This is ridiculous. It’s misconception and nonsense…

As a hyper-local to the parks... I've never had a problem booking one. Sometimes, like for Starlight's premiere, I have to do it more than a day or two in advance, but I very easily can do so before getting into the car (or during the ride over) if I wanted. Most times I go after 2 anyway so it doesn't matter (except for MK during the weekend for some reason - then I book the pass no matter the time or date just in case).

They’re useless…parks haven’t been close to “full” in god knows how long?

the reason they still do it is to maintain - for show - that there’s some high demand that doesn’t exist at all.

They’re not the only ones…how many days of “limited capacity” did EU “fill up” this year?
