Trip Report Tu in ‘25

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tu in ‘25

These lyrics came to mind when I thought about my trip reporting. (I also thought, Here we go AGAIN but the above sounds much more poignant.) It’s now that time of year when my Disney trips are frequent. And this Disney Senior loves sharing her visits with y’all because your engagement makes it fun!

Yes, there will be stuff that’s the same. Yes, there will be surprises (too soon for the reveals). And yes, there will be sun rises!

Spring break countdown is at 4 days.

Since this intro needs a picture, here are Tu.

As we left Star Tours I remembered something I wanted to see.

IMG_9951.jpeg

No, it wasn’t the tree and decor around Echo Lake - that was a bonus along the way!

It was the Christmas movie props display at Walt Disney Presents.

IMG_9941.jpeg

The Santa Clause flicks were always a hit with our kids. It’s time to introduce them to the grands.

IMG_9942.jpeg

IMG_9943.jpeg

Parts of Noelle, a more recent Disney film, were filmed at a nearby outlet mall. Em and I happened to be shopping there when a scene was shooting and we stopped to watch. We did not see Anna Kendrick however. 😕

IMG_9945.jpeg

The classic Muppets Christmas Carol.

IMG_9946.jpeg

Woody and I took our time at the exhibit as it was interesting to see the memorabilia. It brought back fond memories of when DHS Disney-MGM Studios was a real working movie studio.

We did not stay for all the cartoons but watched On Ice.(Now Snowing :hilarious:)

Heroes and Villains just left our museum after an 8 month stay and they had Tim’s from 3 (Escape Clause)

Photo doesn’t do it justice, but there’s so much intricate detail from the coat to the belt, boots, etc. Very impressive. Would like to see the suits from 1 & 2 to see differences/similarities between all 3.

They also had Martin Short’s (Jack Frost), which I neglected to snag a pic of, but it too was impressive.

We seemed to be doing a good job of crisscrossing the park this morning. Woody and I walked back past Echo Lake and into Galaxy's Edge.

Single Rider for Rise of the Resistance? Yes, please.

IMG_9948.jpeg

In less than 5 minutes we were facing the Stormtroopers.

Only Single Riders were directed into the left side of the queue that leads to the holding cells. Everyone else was told to go right, so the line on the left was very short.

As fate would have it, Woody and I were assigned the same group and got to sit together.

IMG_9950.jpeg

All special effects (minus cannons) worked properly and our start-to-finish RotR experience was around 15 minutes.

I’m thinking Woody is ready to return to WDW. He made pancakes for breakfast this morning and noticed this batter dripping on the skillet had formed into a mini Mickey!

Our countdown is in the teens so he won’t have long to wait.
I was wishing the countdown was more like 25ish days like somebody else I know! 😭

And….we crisscrossed the park yet gain. Sunset Blvd. was our destination this time.

IMG_9952.jpeg

Though the looming HTH beckoned us, we had no plans to check in.

IMG_9953.jpeg

I encouraged Woody to go on RnRC (it was down on his last visit) but he wasn’t interested. He said he’d rather watch the Villains show. A show would be starting shortly so we joined the line.

Would you like to guess who was crowned Most Misunderstood?

Hint #1: My least favorite of the three
Hint #2: Always wins

This show is fixed. Convince me otherwise.

IMG_9956.jpeg

It is a fun show. The actors are great. But 4 shows on 4 different vacations produce the same winner? I wonder if Maleficent benefits from performing last. How about switching up the order and end with Cruella or Hook?

Sigh.

Perhaps lunch at my fave ABC Commissary would perk me up. The chicken sandwich and steak fries always hit the spot.

When Woody returned with our food tray, there was a cupcake on it.

IMG_9959.jpeg

Alas, it was not for me. The CM had noticed Woody’s birthday button and gave him a complimentary cupcake.

IMG_9960.jpeg

He loves yellow cake so this was perfect.

We did a little shopping after lunch.

The bus got us to DHS in time for early entry. As we made our way down Hollywood Blvd., Woody noted that the Minnie Rockettes were actually kicking today (they were stationary the other night.)

View attachment 901155

He wanted to ride MMRR first. The CM at the entrance noticed Woody’s tee and proclaimed with a flourish, “Welcome sir, to the Great MIckey Ride!”

Love the Dapper Dogs! (Do you see them?)

View attachment 901157

Woody’s next request was for an attraction he hadn’t seen in several years. On the way we overheard a thirty-something tell her son, “We’re going to ride the Millennial Falcon!”

Woody commented, “Yeah - it kinda is.” :hilarious:

We passed this holiday display just before reaching our destination.

Star Tours??!!

Tu doesn’t do motion simulators. But the medication I took must have made me loopy, because not only did I agree to walk the queue with Woody, I did not walk through the StarSpeeder but sat down next to Woody and buckled myself in!

We sat dead-center front row and I thought I could handle it. And I did ok at the start. But soon I had to close my eyes to avoid ruining the rest of my day.

Woody was very appreciative of my sacrifice.

Ditto, I still watch them, the first two Home Alones, Muppets Christmas Carol and Die
Hard every holiday season. C and I also do a Harry Potter marathon somewhere towards the end of the year.
I'm also a Die Hard is a Christmas movie person and watch it every year. Home Alone is my favorite and I watch the Christmas Carol that Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge. I watched a Wonderful Life this year and loved it. I'm adding it to my Christmas list of movies. Another must is Family Stone, I don't know of anyone else that watches it. If you haven't seen it, definitely give it a try! I also do a Harry Potter marathon in November, right before I start my Christmas movies. 😁

Just in case you all wanted to know all that about me. :hilarious:

My body was telling me to rest so we left DHS with our purchases. It was another beautiful day and I thought some relaxing in my favorite place would be the best medicine.

IMG_9964.jpeg

The water was too cold for us southerners so we chilled on loungers instead.

IMG_9963.jpeg

But instead of feeling better I began to feel worse. My throat was sore, my cough was steady and I had no appetite at all. Sadly, Woody and I had been looking forward to our evening plans with our local friends Kel and Tom. We were to meet them for dinner at Ale and Compass.

I canceled well before they needed to leave home. We were all disappointed but knew it was for the best.

Woody and I did not stay long at the pool and I crashed back in our room. When I awoke it took all my energy to shower. I had reached the point where I could no longer “power through.”

Woody went to the lounge and got me a banana, crackers and ginger ale. He then returned to the Old Faithful Club and enjoyed a glass of wine with his meatballs, ribs and chicken (the apps were hearty tonight!) He lingered there awhile, appreciating his unexpected birthday perk.

I didn’t make it out of bed until morning.

All caught up with your last few updates! I love that the WL manager credited your account for the noise issues you experienced which goes a long way in a positive guest experience!!! Your meal at Diamond Horseshoe looked delicious and I really love how they decorate at the holidays! Sorry that you started to go downhill and couldn't have dinner with your friends. :( Sleep is the best thing for your body when you're fighting a virus.😪😴🩷

And just my two cents - it seems like quite a few issues at wilderness lodge over the last few visits
Lack of hot water is ridiculous in what is supposed to be a deluxe hotel
Disney deluxe is not always deluxe - you should not have to complain to get the bare minimum for the cost per night
If renovations are happening those rooms should not be used - rather than put people in them and wait for complaints ( and hope most don’t complain)

Hopefully this is a WL only issue - my last Disney stay was at the grand Californian in DLR - and it met my expectations for a deluxe hotel.

Hopping off the soap box and back to the trip report - take it away Tu ……
