Trip Report I May Have Done a Thing... (now the actual report)

Screenshot_20250912_173614_Disney World.jpg

I know, I know, that's the busiest time of year to go, but hear me out! Christmas sucks for us right about now! And we decided that instead of staying home and wallowing in our sorrow, we would go somewhere and try to keep ourselves busy. Christmas 2022 obviously sucked, but we were so numb at that point that it's all a blur. Then 2023 was horrific and felt like the first Christmas without Lily. Needless to say, I didn't feel like decorating nor celebrating, so we didn't do a whole lot that year. Last year, I still couldn't bring myself to decorate, but we tried to attend a few celebrations and ease back into things. My anniversary trip with Brian last year helped get me closer to remembering that I used to love Christmas and all the decorations, but I'm still not sure I would be able to decorate the house this year either, so now I won't have to worry about it too much! The boys don't necessarily want to go anywhere, but they grudgingly agreed to go with us when I promised we would make it as laid back and stress free as possible, which I know means we will miss seeing and doing a lot of things! As you can surmise from my picture, we are staying at Caribbean Beach again. I booked two (hopefully connecting) standard view 5th sleeper rooms. I am going to request to be in Trinidad again this year.

We were on the way to Pandora for our LL for FOP. Brian chose to sit this one out.

We basically walked in to the preshow and things just devolved from there. We got to the point where they shoot the air at you and a 7 or 8 year old girl freaked out and wanted to leave immediately. She and her mom wandered around the room and then left through the door they loaded us through. They came right back in and followed us to the next preshow room. She again freaked out the entire time because the CM made her stand there in the room through the whole preshow. They were finally allowed to leave once we were loading onto the actual ride. It was very distracting and I'm glad it wasn't our first time on the ride. I'm not sure why they couldn't let her exit out of the first preshow.

We headed the back way into Africa for our next LL.

This LL was the main reason I brought my DSLR instead of relying on my phone for the whole trip. I was hoping to be able to get some better pictures of the animals.

We were in the very back row, so it was really bumpy and made it hard to get pics at times.

We start out with an Okapi butt. We seemed to see a plethora of butts this particular safari!!

On the way to the busses, we debated whether to go directly to Epcot or to go back to the room for awhile. We decided to go back to CBR, which ended up probably being the wrong decision as it took awhile for a bus to come, then we had to wait for a driver change, then we just sat for a good 10 minutes before leaving even though no one else got on the bus. Oh well, at least we got a brief break in the room.

A cute wreath at the bus stop:

Next stop of the day was Epcot for our GotG LL and lunch. We also had bonus Soarin' and Glimmering Greenhouses LL that I scheduled after we used our LLs at AK.

We checked into lunch a few minutes early and she asked about celebrations, so I said we had 2 birthdays and our anniversary.

Owen ordered the Starship Lemonade which was strawberry, watermelon, and lemonade.
1000031480.jpg

Brian got the non-alcoholic P2OG and Logan got the hard version. It is pineapple in addition to the passion fruit, guava, and orange of the regular POG with rum added in Logan's.
1000031481.jpg

Brian and Owen both ordered the tuna tartare. I was really surprised when Brian ordered this, but the waiter recommended it so he blindly followed his suggestion. Owen is more adventurous, so I wasn't as surprised that he opted to try it.
1000031482.jpg

Brian about gagged when he took his first bite. "I didn't know I was getting raw tuna" The rest of us laughed and asked if he even read the description and he of course said no. Then he deserved what he got. Owen didn't care for it either, but his was more of a texture of the rest of the items that he didn't like. The waiter noticed and brought them different appetizers. Brian got a Caesar salad and Owen ordered the Wagyu beef carpaccio. The waiter made sure he knew it was also raw meat. Owen knew this and originally was going to order this. He really enjoyed it.

Logan and I both ordered the calamari. We both enjoyed it.
1000031483.jpg

For entrees, Brian ordered the steak and frites. He absolutely loved it.

Owen ordered the Titan Crater Flatbread which was strip loin, caramelized onion, aurgula, tomota, parmesan, and truffle creme. He enjoyed it.
1000031486.jpg

Logan and I ordered the Gemini burger. It was delicious, but huge. I only finished half of mine.
1000031487.jpg

Remember how I told them 2 birthdays and 1 anniversary? They brought out 1 birthday and 1 anniversary treat! Needless to say, Brian and I let Owen eat our anniversary treat.

This was definitely a one and done for us. The food was ok, but the service was so slow and it was expensive. I'm glad we had the experience, but we'll continue trying new things before we return here.

Once we finally escaped, we crossed the park to redeem our Soarin' LL. I still kept checking for a RnRC one for Owen, but one never popped up this day.
