DHS Disney Confirms Muppets Take Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

Around 07-08ish. For all I know it could have changed again. I have not been there in over a decade.

The huge change (with the singing cows) was in 2016. There were some minor changes prior, but 2016 is when most of the real education side was lost. If I remember right, the 2008 change was just the beginning section about harvesting the cacao, but I may not recall correctly. We had season passes from 2006 to 2019 as our daughter grew up and loved Hershey. But we were very upset at the big change in 2016.

I just went on it this past Spring and it has continued to change a little since that big change, but never for the better. And upkeep is absolutely terrible.

FWIY, they did a Christmas overlay this year and in the update, they refreshed a lot of the broken effects and replaced several of the projection mapped effects with practical effects. The general "dumbing down" is still there, but I guess that's to be expected when the point of the whole experience is all to sell more chocolate anyway. They traditionally have done a major overhaul every ~10 years, so by thay metric, they are due, but given the recent fixes, I'd guess they will push the current version a few more years.

I had another idea...it's too bad they couldn't do something at Disney Springs (I mean they could but Disney would never) with the existing MV3D and other stuff from the area. I always liked the idea of having a "free" attraction at Disney Springs, sort of like the Chocolate World ride outside of Hersheypark, but that's not in Disney's vocabulary.
Except Hersheypark doesn’t own or operate Chocolate World. Hershey Entertainment & Resorts is a separate, privately owned company from the publicly traded Hershey Chocolate Company. Both are controlled by the Hershey Trust Company, but they’re even more distinct than something like the Disney parks and the studio.

Ah Interesting, I wasn't aware of that.

This video gives a pretty good overview of the ride and all the changes that have happened since it opened

After watching that video and reading the comments, I must have been on it a bit before the 2016 version, there were only 3 singing cows and they weren't that annoying. The rest seems fine and....expected for what it is IMO.

I'm no fan of loops but I'll happily walk through the pre-show before taking the Gonzo chicken exit (yes, they better label it as such with proper Gonzo and chicken signage).

Said my goodbyes this weekend... very nervous how this will turn out, I just can't picture in my head how any music will fit as well as Aerosmith has. fingers crossed!

As is over half of the town. It's all basically controlled by the school up on the hill that has more money than they know what to do with/legally are allowed to keep... (except pay their school staff well apparently....)

The fact remains, even if not every project featuring Scrooge was in the same continuity as DuckTales, he still had a consistent voice for years since then. We know what Scrooge McDuck, Garfield, etc. sound like and it's not David Tennant, Chris Pratt etc.
Didn't Alan Young pass away in 2016, meaning bringing him back wasn't an option anyway (in comparison, Steve Whitmire's alive and still active)? Plus, Scrooge certainly hasn't had a consistent voice after Alan Young passed away, with John Kassir voicing him in the Paul Rudish shorts and Mickey's Halloween celebration, Enn Reitel in Disney Dreamlight Valley, Kingdom Hearts III, and Dance Your DuckTales, Eric Bauza in Legend of the Three Caballeros, and Alan D Marriott in Disney Speedstorm. Even David Tennant has been sometimes voicing him outside DuckTales 2017 like in the recent Rescue Rangers movie and Chibiverse.
