My dear friend Robbie Salvatore may have cried happy tears when he realized that a particularly controversial decision he was forced to write by George Lucas in a Star Wars novel was taken by Disney and effectively reused with a major change in the last movie (which meant he didn't get blamed for it anymore, although he didn't get paid for it).He means the novelization of the first film. The old EU or Legends novels despite the occasional bad idea were largely better than most of the stuff Disney has crapped out. In fact, Disney took one of the old Legends worst ideas "Resurrecting Palpatine" and ran with it in Rise of Skywalker.
The fake out on killing Chewie may have been a worse idea than resurrecting Palpatine.
