News Sprinkles Cupcakes Disney Springs Location Reportedly Facing Imminent Closure

How about a QS Cuban restaurant? Would love a good Cuban Sandwich and some sweet plantains.
Not sure that has a broad enough appeal to survive in a general high-tourist area like this. I mean, look at Bongos - or you know, I guess don't since it's gone.

Personally, I'd love it but I've yet to meet an out-of-state person who has the foggiest idea what a Cuban sandwich is unless they've previously been introduced to them by someone here.

And sweet fried plantains for as good as they are have an appearance that seems to cause surprise when tasted, even when I tell people they're sweet.

For the cost of rent for such a high-profile location, I expect it'll end up being something a lot less interesting.

Boba Tea and mochi donut places are trending right now. Personally, I think the location is screaming for a Dave’s Hot Chicken or a Banh Mi and Pho restaurant. I don’t know how well the Wondermade marshmallow kiosk does, but I could see it going in there.

So my wife and I stopped once to try it out. The cupcake was ok, not super great that left us saying let's try this again. It was more like, nice but for the price we can take a pass. The only surprise to me is that it took so long for the end to come, though I always feel a little sad when a small business fails.

Honestly wasn't in the slightest bit surprised to see this, the place is always empty. Plus cupcakes feel like a thing that died out several years ago, this is on them for not adapting. Heck cookie and doughnuts - I have no idea if they even focused on those or attempted to as their marketing is non-existant. There's a reason gidions and cake bake give out a crap load of freebies to influencers every month, it's the only way of keeping their name in the minds of people planning a visit as 'generic cake or cookie' isnt something people give a damn about most of the time when they can get that in any park.

I'm not a fan of Gideon's but they've got their marketing right. They get the big influencers in the door every month to show off that months menu items and drinks, the cost to them is next to nothing for that. Then people decide that their generic lumps of sugar this month are different/better/sweeter/whatever than last months and collectively throw more money at them.

When we were at Springs back in December, I had a feeling that Sprinkles was not long for this world. We went there a few times back when it opened and thought it was okay but haven’t been there in years. We would rather get something for dessert at Amorette’s, Salt and Straw, or Ghirardelli.

I don't think cupcakes died out -- there are still plenty of successful cupcake places (there are at least two cupcake only chains where I live).

Theirs weren't especially good, though, and there were better places to get dessert at DS.

I never understood the appeal of small, dry, bland cake with no frosting, but I know some people liked their cupcakes.

But there are still a ton of sweet treat places in DS to handle anyone's cravings.

For me, when Gideon's is a top-2 reason to fly to Orlando (other than to visit the Disney parks) lol I don't pay attention to anything else.

It doesn’t help that the creative, the baker, the og creator, peaced out over a decade ago.

Private Equity ruins everything, including I am sure quality.

I wonder what the cupcake was like when Sprinkles first came to be.

We stopped in on Tuesday night and the had almost no cupcakes left and the place looked like it was in chaos. When I saw this post yesterday it all made sense.
