DHS Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular Boulder Incident

The ball has come off the track several times in it's 36 year history, just seemingly no one has walked in to its path before.

They are now running the show without the ball, making for a very awkward and underwhelming scene. It'll be back I'm sure but now might just be the time to put this show out of it's long stagnating misery.

A 400 lbs bouncing ball.
And yet no concern at all about cars with 6 people going over 60 MPH with no driver, just a grove and a boot guiding it. There are dangers everywhere we stand in life. Overreacting does not solve the problem. When one factors in that show has been happening multiple times a day for years it's hardly a time to get concerned. It is to bad that happened and kudo's to the fellow that intervened but to call for the closing down of a popular show because of a freak accident is just what it sounds like... overreaction.

I don't want the show shut down. I am not overreacting. I was providing more information for the discussion.

Yeah. This attraction probably has over 100K shows at this point.

He jumped in front of it to protect the audience.

I found this video from 1992 where the boulder came out of the track, due to hitting the stuntman that had tripped and fallen over.

Maybe? Depends on the trajectory of the ball. Hard to tell as I am not a mathematician or a physicist, but in my eyes the chance of it bouncing over and hitting the audience wasn't zero.

We’ll never know, but a bounce into the crowd would have landed on upper torsos, necks, heads…everything poking up from the seating position. Not a good scenario.

Also, let’s not forget probability in that risk calculation. Yes, many risks in the show “can” be bad, but its just negligence at this point to ignore one that has actually happed. Multiple times apparently.

I’m hopeful they’ll fix it where it’s not an issue anymore.

What is if were a great attraction replacing it...something tied into the location of Hollywood Boulevard.... I would gladly trade in Indiana Jones Stunt Show for a completely revitalized central corrider to the park with new and refreshed attractions that thematically fit "The Hollywood that never was...and will always be". The stunt show always felt like an early filler for a new theme [park that was woefully underbuilt from the start.....
If it were to close, my money is on an empty theater and/or unused plot of land for a decade or more.
