MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

I was under the impression that Villain's Land isn't going to expand beyond the train tracks, and as far as I know Disney isn't re-routing the train track, so Villain's Land will stay within the existing boundary of the park, unfortunately
All signs point to that being the case. However, not all may be revealed and not all changes have been changed.

Adding on without replacing increases operting costs and thus reduces profits.
Not saying it's not true...just very short sighted. More hq offerings=more wanting to go and more willing to pay. Walt had to make that point with accounting when he wanted his first Christmas parade in 1955. Exceed expectations =more wanting to reurn

They increase prices every year and it doesn't seem to be detering people from coming. There is already more to do at WDW then anyone can do in a single trip so adding more things is likely a case of dimishing returns. Add new things does drive attendance but you can get that by replacing instead of expanding.

Based on so many on site reports, disney seems to be relying upon an ever decreasing demographic....

There always is a lot of wonder about the additional land available to be used. My thought is that it might be available but only if they add a new park. There is a realistic maximum that they can successfully expand the footprint before it becomes to much for guests to handle. Epcot is bigger but laid out differently, as is DAK but with Safari taking up a huge chunk of it, however, with the current layout at MK you might have reached the outward limit that a human can walk or just lose interest and go home. Since they aren't physically adding to the footprint and are filling it with a couple of big time draws for motivation it is more likely to help spread out the crowd toward the back of the park. Remember that that part of the park is possibly the furthest point from the Entrance/Exit and even further from the transportation to the bus stops, monorails and ferries. My feet hurt just thinking about it.

As for myself I am truly saddened at the lost of the RoA, especially the frontierland area, but I grudgingly have to admit that both the Riverboat and TSI were not pulling their weight at all. Cars and Villians is going to be a massive success and cannot help but lesson the burden of the crowds being able to go into that area and even if not in/on attractions they will be standing in the Queue. This is one of the few things I have agreed with as a major change for a long while and even then it took me a little while to think it through. If this same opportunity had come up, Walt would have done it in a heartbeat. We have to remember when trying to figure out "what would Walt say" we have to factor in the time of his existence and what the social need and desires were. He never hesitated to change things to PLUS the parks and always seemed to have his finger on the needs of the public no matter what year it was..

If anyone is wondering what this clearance could look like, here's my earlier prediction.

I cant quite work out if the plan is to set all infrastructure for future expansion of villains (or different IP) now and be able to come back to it Universal-style quite quickly. or if the villains is far bigger than predictions, although i haven't heard anything beyond two attractions

As I look at the photo in the tweet where he adds in the drawings, does he purpose that they will add back a section, or create, a river to connect with the canal? Or am I just reading his drawing wrong?

His suggestion is merely that there will still be a water feature encircling Big Thunder to some extent, not that it will literally connect to the canal. The decorative streams in the park can still pretty much go anywhere even though they're not part of the water management infrastructure anymore.

Correct, the drainage basin for parks like Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure have lagoons that act as place to drain storm water in to - rivers was like that. now that has been moved outside the park. the decorative fountain ponds in Epic Universe are a closed water system with drainage ponds outside of that park.

Anything Ive drawn from concept art has nothing to do with drainage and is there for aesthetics and theming, some of this will connect to the water features of Tianas which is also a closed water system

Is it fair to say Piston Peak will be like a Grizzly Peak and will be a very pretty Frontierland expansion AND Villains Land will likely be the best land in the world?

I mean, I can already picture a Hades AA or Maleficent on the indoor ride, and an insane coaster like Hagrid’s/Taron.

I think Monsters Unchained is my favorite ride anywhere at this point, and I see no reason why it couldn’t surpass it.

Magic Kingdom will also almost certainly redo Space Mountain after Big Thunder Mountain, and if they do, Magic Kingdom with its new lands and plussings will be such an elite park.

The bioreconstruct map has 3 areas of cleared land beyond the railway berm. Hotel would definitely be in one of these plots, but probably the 11.5acres,as gives best views of the park. The large rectangle where the while trailers are right now for villains construction i presume will be used for theme park expansion later, given the money outlined to be spent over next 10 years over the whole resort.

That hotel location is a problem, it’s isolated from the 7SL and monorail. Having a deluxe hotel there instantly makes it inferior to the other monorail resorts without some sort of expedited transport to other amenities.

Meh I disagree. If wilderness lodge can exist so close without the monorail I think this hotel can do, esp given its in the park
