DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

It would be nice if they utilized the open space - either where the old studio store building used to be or the space behind Mama Melrose/in front of the coaster building - to add a flat ride. Something like a teacups ride would be a nice addition for capacity to the park that needs more "smaller things". There's definitely space for such a thing.

"Very good...very", on many levels, if this, accurate....particularly since it's Florida.

If what is accurate? You can see that they dug down below the parking lot level in the photos. Both Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge have basements for ride equipment. They’re not all that unusual in the parks.
That they considered sightlines...and were able to go deep enough w/o striking water table...

I’m also curious as to the nature of those utility restrictions, if they exist. Can restaurants and/or stores be built over them? Right now, it sure looks like a huge empty space, and I’m not convinced that’s all the fault of utilities.
It’s not a restriction per se. More just cost control. It’s a lot cheaper and easier to just not mess with them.

This project looks like it may use space even more poorly than TSL.

I agree. As presented, there's an absolute ton of wasted space. I'm still vaguely hoping there's a third wave fill in to this one. As this project is clearly flying by the seat of its pants. At the very least something between Muppet Vision, Rise and the Roadway. Even fake frontage, it's way too vague.

I don't think the open side is by any means great, but theoretically in our lifetime the park will go towards Echo lake In that direction.

When was the last time WDW used space well? Has it happened since the opening of AK? Tron, TSL, the new EPCOT hub, and likely Monsters are abominable while Rat, SWL, and Pandora are somewhat better but still each have glaring problems. Even Disney Springs has some major issues. NFL certainly isn’t great, but is it the best they’ve done in decades?

Disneyland is and pretty much always has been far more effective with their much more limited space.

at least at first WDW laid-out things with the dual goal of higher attendance while setting aside plots for expansions into the future.
Maybe, but by the age of Eisner they became more interested in replacing rather than expanding. Disneyland can add new attractions without removing anything but backstage areas while at WDW we see major beloved attractions getting replaced for no good reason.

The irony.

Lately I've been feeling kind of torn in all honesty. Like with the Monsters Inc Land, I applaud when Disney does (what will ultimately be) a true expansion (again, part of the "magic" I got to experience as a child was the impression that Disney was going to ONLY add forever...as unrealistic as I admit this is as an adult), but with TSI/ROA, while I certainly understand the numerous "whys," I think I'll be forever flabbergasted they removed was BOTH one of the biggest things that gave Disney heart, AND something that was one of the very last opportunities to "catch one's breath."

"What about Mickey Shorts Theater or Pixar Festival Theater?????!!!" some may be quick to say....those places may be air conditioned places to catch one's breath, but they certainly have no heart whatsoever.

I'm very curious about Dexpo 26....hoping it's not only "progress reports" of what's in the works (though to be fair...alot already is).

They want you to be draining your wallet every nano-second you are on their property now, apparently.

i have a feeling this land/section will do very well within DHS. They city/streets vibe has always felt the most DHS
I think it’ll honestly prove to be the most popular land in the park. On D23 weekend this was the only land that really broke out into the news in non-Disney circles and went majorly viral on Twitter and TikTok. People have really wanted that door coaster.
