Per Jim Shull (and a number of other folks), Eddie Sotto - probably best known for his work in Tokyo and Paris (including on the design of DLP's Main Street), but also for working on Mission: Space, various unbuilt World Showcase pavilions, and many other things at WDW and Disneyland, has died at the age of 67.

A true talent. For those who weren’t around then, @Eddie Sotto was a member here. His threads were awesome.

Very sad news. I never met Eddie in person, but exchanged many emails over the years. He was always open to sharing his knowledge and joining in the conservation - as he very generously did here on the WDWMAGIC forums. He will be greatly missed as a person and as one of Disney's most talented and influential Imagineers.

😢 Very sad.

I loved his conversations on our boards here and even recall a time where I complained that the large Stitch walkaround character being out of place compared to the size of Stitch in "Stitch's Great Escape"...........he remarked at the Partners Statue also features a smaller Mickey Mouse and didn't complain about current walkaround Mickey being much bigger. I said something to the effect of "yes, because Mickey grew up since then" which he hadn't thought about 😅.

Eddie Sotto was best known for his work at Disney, but his love and passion for design and technology extended far beyond that. His enthusiasm for the potential in creative work and advocacy for quality, no matter the client, helped to inspire others and carry on a legacy while developing one of his own.

That he took as much time as he did to engage with his fans, with eloquence and enthusiasm in equal measure, demonstrated an enormous amount of grace and patience. He was never expected to do that, but I hope he knew how much that was appreciated, especially on this forum where he contributed so much.

He was a Disney fan willing to share his talent and expertise with Imagineering because he believed in the potential of what they could deliver, and didn't want to compromise simply to get the job done. His projects at Euro and Tokyo Disney in particular are still respected today, and will endure and inspire for that reason.

I almost couldn't believe it when I first read it. It was a lot of fun hearing his stories about WDI. Had I actually succeeded in my aspiration to work for WDI, I would have credited him as my mentor. I messaged him as soon as I got home from France last year to visit DLP among other things. I liked him a lot and he will be greatly missed.
