MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

Woof. That’s just sick and sad, IM(not humble)O.
And now, looking at that, it brings another question to my mind…how is Piston Peak gonna’ play against Big Thunder Mountain, visually…?
Two “peaks” that close together…?! 🤔 🤷‍♂️:cyclops:
I think a similar mindset of Tron Mountain adjacent to Space Mountain 🤷‍♀️

Nevermind initial BEYOND (Idk if I'll ever get over that) concept art shows BTMR remaining as undisputed, dominant landmark.

Ever? Nobody can ever compare the 2 for any reason when it comes to theme park design? Even though they had some of the same imagineers involved?

Or just in the case of this specific project?

Are you saying everything about this project exists in a vacuum and is beyond compare with other theme parks period?
Is there some hypothetical condition that it might make sense to compare 2 separate businesses, on two separate continents about? Possibly,. But who cares. We aren't talking about hypotheticals. We are talking about how one park, is going to use a particular piece of the property that it has, unique to its park. How its customers (not any other parks) are currently utilizing that particular piece of property, and how WDW can project that its customers we better utizlies that particular piece of property. That discussion is all fact centric, and based upon the fact in WDW, not anywhere else.

No one’s arguing that WDW should ignore its own data. But projections aren’t “fact-only” by definition, they’re interpretations. Using relevant comparisons isn’t hypothetical hand-waving; it’s how you test assumptions and avoid treating WDW as if it exists in a vacuum. The decision is WDW-specific, but informed context still matters.

You’re also acting as if it’s a fact that WDW is making the right decision- that’s not a fact.

I don’t think it’s a fact they are making the wrong decision, it’s my belief.

As we all know, facts and belief are not the same thing.

I'm not entirely sure, but the more recent art makes it look like the exterior-facing portion of Piston Peak will be dominated by terraced cascades that potentially make it look like less of a competing peak on approach from Liberty Square. That said, the original art had a singular "piston" in a more prominent position than the lower, more discreet smattering of "pistons" shown later. Unless we get a model in the near future, we'll just have to see how the rockwork shapes up.

Yes, but as those two seem to be very “modernistically” different I don’t interpret much visual conflict. But, based on images of Cars Land at DCA, BTM and PP could, potentially, be pretty similar, thus, creating visual conflict.
Just a thought, as I’m curious how they may, or may not, deal with it.

will the race track and cars be visible from big thunder? Seems like it’s a real possibility
It's definitely possible, but it bears repeating that the whole reason Piston Peak is laid out as proposed is due to an attempt to hide the Cars elements from elsewhere in Liberty Square and Frontierland. The fear that they will not be successful in doing so is valid and warranted, but the intention is at least very clearly the opposite.

This implies that that pixie dusters are more common on here than the constant complaints lol
What I love about this site is that so many members have both researched the parks extensively and have a long history of visits to the various parks and resorts world wide.

The typcial “pixie duster” sticks out - and in my opinion will be a fish out of water on this site.

I’m not here to say “oh yay Disney is building something new” - i am here to say things like “would John Hench have chosen that shade of blue?”

Now about them cars….. 🚙🚙🚙
