News Disney CFO Hugh Johnston Says Dynamic Pricing Is Coming to the Parks

That being how it is and where it is along with being right next to a stage setup that for more operational hours of the year than not, will have nothing on it was just an odd choice. Putting this on the spine right there in the middle and having a really cool looking building there that's closed and a stage with nothing or with entertainment nobody seems to care about just creates a weird dead zone to walk past right in the middle of the park and this is after walking past the inaccessible backside of the Moana walk-through, too.

There was a lot of dead area with what was there before but that was due to stagnation and neglect. They tore that all out and had a clean slate. They could have done anything they wanted. What they did was build something that at certain times of the day and certain days of the year, looks dead and we're not even a half decade into operation of it.

A permanent festival area wasn't a bad idea given how much the park relies on that but don't they already have one of those that's tucked away nicely enough in World Showcase that in the off time, it can seem like it's not even there?

Maybe they should have thought about using that instead or building something similar on an expansion pad in World Showcase. I know why they wouldn't want to use that existing structure since it's a money-maker but I wish they'd have better considered the guest experience with what they did go with.

In defense of the Odyssey, it at least wasn't built for and didn't initially operate the way it now does.

You make an interesting point, though. I wasn't even thinking about that one. They could have just slapped a new coat of paint on it and called that the new festival center. I have no idea if it's still used for cast member food on the back side or not but surely if that's the case, this could have been relocated to open up it's full size for festival use at a considerably lower price than what they built... and at least that one's a little out of the way for when it's vacant.

Pepsi and Walmart allegedly colluded to raise food prices, according to newly unsealed court documents.

This bit stood out for me:

Pepsi was also a key player in the post-Covid ‘greedflation’ episode. “I actually think we’re capable of taking whatever pricing we need,” said CFO Hugh Johnston in 2022. And the company did just that, raising prices by double digit percentages for seven straight quarters in 2022-2023.

Gosh that name sounds familiar. Where have I heard it before?

I have a secret….

EVERY supplier in America has used the narratives allowed since the start of COVID to collude to fix prices

Every
Single
One

It’s been as despicable as war profiteering
Suppliers have also decreased margins.

Our small hardware store has consistently not only seen the customer price set by the vendor increase, but also our cost, usually by much more than the customer price.

Margins that for decades were 30-50% have now dropped as low as 5-8%, as vendors have done studies to see how high customers will go, so they raise prices, but know the store HAS to carry certain things, so they really choke us by raising our cost at a higher rate.

Unlike Walmart, the little local store can’t negotiate these sweetheart deals with vendors that the big guys can.

It’s been obvious since 2021 this is not due to supply chain issues, but to base greed.

So everyone not on the top rungs of the ladder are getting screwed?

…gee…it’s almost as though that’s been the not subtly stated plan my entire life?🤔

And ultimately…he’s a nothing

Which is why he’s clinging to his office chair and doing one Hail Mary attempt at regaining relevancy after another
Anytime you start hitting C-Suite levels of a major company you are dealing with a lot of ego so I think most of them find it difficult to walk away but I still think next year is his last.

Unfortunately, no matter who is next, revenue streams from things like LL and after hours aren't going anywhere and all the downside that comes with, but hopefully whoever it is can at least push for better quality and fit (at least in the parks).
