Better than my original plan of "Air in a bag and claim its music from the Aerosmith version of RNRC"

So do we still think they're gonna pull this off?

What are you questioning exactly?

Contrary to what gets claimed a bunch rollercoasters pretty consistently draw in people regardless of what the theme of it is (or having no theme) so the line that's still regularly long is going to stay regularly long. It'll get the usual new ride bump, probably.

It's modern Disney and the Muppets, so it won't be funny. But the more I watch the more I realize Muppet Vision was a fluke and the Muppets were never funny (Christmas Carol being another exception) so I guess Disney is just carrying on the tradition.

So I predict, yes. They will pull off taking Aerosmith out of the rollercoaster and putting Muppets in the rollercoaster. It will happen.

They can advertise a new attraction while doing nothing to actually improve the park capacity, so I guess they win from pulling that off. They get to partake in their favorite hobby! And super cheap, too!

By far, the main way the Muppets have been funny over 70 years was thru parody. So to be fair, what was considered funny in the 50s or 70s etc may no longer be funny in the 2020s b/c today's viewer never had the context for the parody.

...that being said, many Muppets are inherently, timelessly funny (Sweedish Chef, Beaker, etc)

The old Muppet content is still funny today. In fact, a lot of the very meta humor was ahead of its time.

I rewatched the first two Muppet movies recently (after watching the Jim Henson documentary on Disney+), and they were absolutely hilarious.

As exemplified in both The Muppet Movie and The Muppet Show, The Muppets are "the last of the Vaudevillians." They may not be the most talented, but they have this drive to perform: signing ... joking ... "making people happy."

I've noticed the same drive in some old-time entertainers who worked with the likes of Eddie Cantor (the ones I knew personally now long-passed), but another arguable surviving Vaudevillian is Navckid Keyd. The desire to perform is arguably in their DNA, such that if they feel they could drop dead if they can't perform in some way.

That being said, I understand why those like Frank Oz expressed reservations in the past...concern that the Muppets could lose that drive.

I'm sure they are going to have to build a refurb wall as many will try to peek over if they are keeping the Villians show next door at Sunset Theater open as nothing was stated for any closure of that as of yet and there isn't a way to close it off since the entryway is in the plaza..

I mean what does it really matter if people peak. The only thing we know for sure that’s changing on the outside is the sign which we’ve already seen. Honestly, this seems like a pretty straightforward refurb and peaking at Cars from Tiana’s would be a greater “problem”

Anything else would be nice but a pretty small thing that I’m sure Disney wouldn’t really care about fans knowing early

I'm just happy they're keeping the RnRC part of the name when the Muppets take over.

RnRC was a classic coaster at Opryland theme park, Nashville, TN.
It broke the hearts of many when the park closed in 1997 to make way for a large shopping mall.

Due to the closure, Disney was able to swipe the RnRC name and use it for their upcoming Aerosmith musical indoor coaster at MGM Studios. That name is one of the few (if any?) remains of the beloved Nashville park. Those who knew the place well always think of it when visiting Disney and riding their RnRC.

R.I.P. Opryland theme park.
Forever missed.

Just what the parks need…more walls! Maybe it’s all to make it up to Epcot since it had a solid 5+ years of them. “We’ll show them, they haven’t seen nothing yet!” 😂

If you think about it, after the preshow, there is not really going to be much comedy involved.
The preshow will be typical Muppet stuff as in something goes nutty/wrong and we leave the recording studio to board the cars.
Perhaps there will be an AA or screens in the loading area?
The ride itself will just feature different cutouts.
Where we exit the vehicles and at the gift stop perhaps we will get an AA or screens?
Certainly Muppet/Dr. Teeth theming.
The biggest change is going from the edgyness of genuine rock and roll to the zaniness of Muppet rock and roll.
Although I understand that Aerosmith can't last forever, that's a loss for me.
Still, it wouldn't effect my desire to ride the ride.
