This was the view you would see driving down Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim, California back in the 1940s:

Here is a picture taken from roughly the same spot in the 1980s:

More recently, this would be the view along Kirman Rd in Orlando if you were driving down it back in 2019...

Sometimes life gives you lemons, other times life doesn't even do you the kindness of gifting citrus. Luckily, store bought is fine!

Universal turned this Kirkman Rd property into their own metaphorical orange grove and now we have something truly epic in that spot...

This story might seem very different from that of Disneyland's, but the core is the same. People coming together to create something amazing out of nothing but an empty field and a dream and millions of dollars. We're going beyond citrus fields this time because the sky's the limit!

So, let's carry that spirit of imagination with us as we shoot for the stars and continue what we started in Citrus Dreamin' with a new season of the Armchair Imagineering competition with the highest concentration of Vitamin C...

Welcome to Celestial Dreamin'

SEyoHMz.png

Pictured: An Imagineering Competition that promises to be the most epic journey across the cosmos to ever feature a chocolate teddy bear and a sentient piece of fruit.

My name is Pi, and I'll be your Skipper today.

Joining me is Quartermaster Tiki who will host the official companion podcast
(Though Tiki has been given absolutely no information about the competition so that way if he plays he has no advantage).

Alongside us is First Mate Orange Bird (O.B.) keeping our moonship steady.

Finally, we'll also have Epic Universe's Captain Cacao sailing with us through the stars as our Navigator (His name is a misnomer, he really is canonically the navigator despite his name being "Captain").

Hopefully you'll be joining the journey as well!

--How does the Game Work?--

vQn65G0.jpeg

Pictured: The start of another 3 Hour Tour. This time, instead of sailing on a Jungle Cruise boat, we're on some sort of a moon shaped ship creatively named "Moonship"

This is going to be a very accessible armchair Imagineering game. With a bit more of a Universal focus as the main twist, but don't worry there will be plenty of opportunities to work with Disney Parks and beyond! Freedom to follow your passions and prompts that push you to find new fun ways to express yourself are the name of the game here.

If you played in the original Citrus Dreamin' back in Spring of 2024, then this should all seem pretty familiar.
Almost like some sort of sequel/season 2 or something

This will be a Team Based Competition! With some loose Epic Universe/Sci-Fi theming, Captain Cacao and Orange Bird as our adorable and marketable mascots, and a light hearted irreverent comedic tone inspired by the Universal Parks, this game is sure to be a good time for all! The focus is on collaboration, brainstorming, creative writing, art, and presentation. Come up with an idea together and then communicate that in as fun and effective a way as you can!

Pictured: An Average Team Brainstorming Meeting

Celestial Dreamin' will be divided into a series of Wondrous Galaxies. These will serve as "Acts" for the game, each with their own theme. These take the place of the "Rivers" from Season One. Maybe one Wondrous Galaxy will involve projects exclusively in Universal parks? Or perhaps one will involve a gimmick that changes an aspect of the gameplay? There's no way of knowing where the next warp star will take us!

The Imagineering Expeditions (our fancy names for the rounds/prompts) will generally take a week barring any unforeseen twists. Each Wondrous Galaxy will take players on 1-3 Expeditions (so, the acts will have about 3 rounds each, give or take). I'll give the teams an Imagineering challenge, and they'll propose their best ideas!

Expeditions will either end in a prize for the winning team or an elimination for the losing team. Beyond just regular eliminations, there is the possibility of team shuffling to balance them out or extra eliminations due to lack of activity or other issues. If possible, any shake ups to the teams not caused by eliminations will happen between Rivers. The prizes that can be won from non-elimination rounds will vary from very simple gags to things that might impact the next Expedition, so every round is important! Perhaps one might even win the coveted Golden Pizza Moon

Pictured: This, but Gold. Sorry if this is all too cheesey

There will be an ultimate winner and getting competitive is a part of the fun, but the focus is on growing as Imagineers, having a good time, and creating some really cool stuff! So, if anyone needs an extension for any of the Expeditions I am happy to work with you, just ask 24 Hours before the due date so that it's fair to the other team.

I want to try to foster an environment where everyone is welcome and comfortable being themselves and having fun! If any other players make you feel uncomfortable in any way let me know and I'll do what I can to make it right.

--When is the Game?--

Celestial Dreamin' will start on December 22nd, 2025!

Right at Midnight WDW Time (9 PM Disneyland Time)!
If there's any time zones you want included in due dates to make things more accessible let me know

If you're interested in playing then you're in the right spot! Just introduce yourself and answer these riddles three to sign up to play!
  1. What Armchair Imagineering Project have you done that you think best shows off your talents?
  2. What do you hope to get better at during this game?
  3. Ask me a question. Any question. About the game, about life, about movies, my favorite color. Any question at all
I'm not great at making riddles.

You can start signing up now. If you don't want to play but are interesting in helping with guest reviews that is also awesome just let me know!

First, a look back at Season One: Citrus Dreamin'

Pictured: A Video with nearly as high a production value as the recent 4+ Hour Defunctland showcasing some of the amazing work ya'll did during Citrus Dreamin'

Pictured: The Sunday Morning Funny Pages style comics that Bill Waterson wishes he could make

I tried to use this space to celebrate and archive some of it, but I recommend you take a look yourself at all the amazing work by clicking on the knock knock joke below to be taken to the Season One: Citrus Dreamin' Game Thread!

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Wooden shoe.
Wooden shoe who?

Wooden shoe like to Imagineer some cool stuff?

From the sincerity of Muppet Mayhem (a crossover between Sesame Street and Muppets), the silliness of Nara Dreamland's Beauty & the Beast (A legal loophole allowed them to adapt the Disney movie really really accurately), the ambitious storytelling of The Heart of Coney Island (a video game exploring the stories of those found at Coney Island), the fun fanservice of OB, I Shrunk the Team (a D-Zone Rest Area in Avengers Campus that adds some fun theming and chill vibes while paying homage to Bug's Land), the historical wonder of Passage to the Stars (A look at movie history that feels like the best of classic Studios and classic epcot), the imaginative whimsy of Journey in Animation (a love letter to Disney animation and the medium in general), to the amazing achievement of Symphorest Park and FantaSEA Water Park as huge expansions to Disneyland (Taking advantage of the Disneyland Forever expansion plot, a grand project made by all players working together).

There is so much fun, creativity, talent, hard work, and passion on display in every post in that thread and the projects I highlighted here are just scratching the surface!

And I can't wait to see what you'll come up with this time!

Hi, I’m cdunlap, a high school senior living my best life after several years of not good things happening to me! I enjoy Indigenous history and culture, music, Asian history and culture, ancient history, and a lot more! I haven’t been too involved here in recent years, but I hope to return very soon! At this moment, I’m unsure if I will be playing or guest reviewing on the side, but I will try to make that decision very quickly.

1. I don’t really know which project shows my abilities best because I haven’t done anything here in so long, nor do I feel like going back through all of my work to find out because I’m not feeling well today.

2. I just hope to get better at being here more often because I kind of miss the old days when I was hanging out here doing stuff.

3. How are you doing?

Always happy to have you on board in whatever way you'd like! These forums have always been a great source of comfort to me during hard times or a great way to celebrate during good times. Hopefully I can help the forum be that for you too!

3. How are you doing?
Pretty good! Little tired, but not bad. You?

1. The recent project that probably shows off how dominant of a player I am is the mini golf course I designed for a Hollywood themed resort during the VisionsFantastic. I went into a ton of detail and also hand drew layouts of each and every hole of the two 18 hole courses.

2. At this point having won both Visions Fantastic and @Tegan pilots a chicken's Chopped competition, I think I'm already at my peak. My goal this time is simple: Win. Again. I want to go for a dominant three major competition wins in a row so I can be the greatest Armchair Imagineer of all Tiiiiiiiiime.

3. Pi, can you handle just how dominant I'm going to be this competition? Are you going to be able to emotionally handle my sheer Imagineering prowess co-hosting the podcast? I don't know dude, I might have to play AND host for you :p

Watch out everyone, Tiki has entered his VILLAIN ERA 🤣🧐😈😈
