MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

I thought the general insider/expert belief was that they’re on a 2029/30 timeframe. Is that incorrect / has it been updated?

I don't think we've had much commentary by anyone I would consider an "insider" anymore, I'm happy to be directed to a post from someone contrary, I very well may have missed them or my recollection is off. Most of the dates I've seen thrown around are just general pessimism.

The only real timeline we had "officially" from Disney was by Aug or Dec 2029 for Villains, depending on the leeway you want to give. Cars clearly seems to be planned to open before Villains.

It would strike me as odd for Cars in particular to have first "groundbreaking" in July when Encanto's occurred in January. That's quite a lot of leeway for Cars to make 2028. Recall also that what we know of now as Galaxies Edge largely made end of decade with no start on either coast until Spring 2016. Including fortuitously a Rivers of America Overhaul.

I could very well be way off base, but these latter projects (Cars and Villains) would be pretty offside their usual timelines.

I think piston peak will be like “new fantasyland” and Villians land will be like galaxies edge.

Both are fine… but neither are particularly immersive or brilliant or fun. And neither are worth the price tag, in my opinion.

Just my guess. They could wow us is they want to.
If you want "wow", it's gonna be an upcharge. Disney's not willing to give "wow" for free to us dirty, huddled masses.

Tropicals 27
Monsters 28
Cars 29
Villains 30

or…

Tropicals & Monsters 27
Cars 28
Villains 29

Those are my guesses but I don’t have any luck in Vegas
Everything announced at D23 in 2024 was supposed to be done in 5 years.

So all by the end of 2029.

No one credible has stepped up to give us insider info that any of the projects have fallen behind schedule.

I don’t think anyone expects piston peak and Villians to open together do they?

I still think Monsters coaster is first half of 2028 and Cars is second half. Also purely speculating of course.

Part of that reasoning is that creates two major new attractions annually starting in 2027. If they are serious about their capital plan, that’s not an unrealistic cadence. Really the only argument that they need to be spaced out to annually is if we don’t believe their capital intentions.
