Yes a Disney Deluxe is less deluxe than non-Disney deluxes.

But, do those non-Disney deluxes provide a walking path or a monorail ride to a world class theme park?

There's a hidden add-on fee for Disney Deluxes for the "amenity" of being at a Disney theme park. And all the amenities of being in that 'bubble.'

Disney Deluxe is deluxe compared to Moderate or Value resorts. Not in comparison to non-Disney deluxe accommodations.

If Disney weren't to "cheapen" the "Deluxe" standard (is there even a standard for such a thing?), what wording would you prefer them to use instead to indicate that highest level of accommodations that Disney resorts offer?
Can you image what the rates will be for the Disney "deluxe" resort is when its actually IN a Disney theme park, similar EPIC's Helios???

How's the 24 hour room service?
Turn Down Service?
Daily chocolate on your pillow?
Toiletries not bolted to the wall?
Extra thread linens?

ohhh right...

Enjoy that bar in the middle of the lobby that serves pre-mixed cocktails.
How's the 24 hour room service? Don't use it, never have. Who needs a hamburger at 3AM?

Turn Down Service? - Useless and really don't want yet another person in my room when I'm trying to relax.

Daily chocolate on your pillow? Really, who cares?

Toiletries not bolted to the wall? Unfortunately this is a trend that has caught the JW's and Ritz's recently. I don't like it but its beginning to be industry standard.

Extra thread linens? huh?

Its also $55 dollars to park at these luxury hotels, $0 at Disney resorts. Over a 5 night trip that's a sizable savings. I can buy all the pillow chocolates my heart desires with that savings ;)

Again, not defending some of the changes that have occurred over the past 7 to 5 years but again, my opinion is that its still the Flagship resort when I step foot on property.

Really? You just walk through a scanner. Did they change it in the last year?
When the scanner gives a false positive it becomes a very unpleasant experience. They treat you like you are trying to sneak something in, aren't friendly and then send you for secondary screening which many times has a wait. Most of the time they don't use the words "please" or "thank you."

I fly a lot and the TSA agents on a whole are much more pleasant and friendly than the WDW security.

I don't bring anything into the parks except my wallet, phone, car keys, sunglasses and usually a bottle of water. I NEVER bring a bag of any kind. I've been treated like a terrorist many times from false positives at the scanners that don't actually work as evolv claims.

Honest question. Do you really think a monorail resort is worth the price they charge so you can cough walk to the MK or take a monorail which is unreliable at times or crowded with people who belong on the express line bc they no longer care who goes on the resort route? Better off using an Uber/Lyft or Minivan or even renting a car.

The same AI that serves ads. Like when last night I needed to look something up in the owner's manual of my oven so I went to the Best Buy website to get the model number to look it up. Now today, on this very website, I keep getting ads for ovens. I'm sure I'll be getting some email deals for them shortly.

If the AI is reading this, I AM NOT LOOKING TO PURCHASE AN OVEN.
It freaks me out to just mention something, and when I check the laptop there are numerous ads for what I talked about!
I know they are listening in, but it's weird..................

Yeah but by settling for a lesser product, you are excusing it.

Simply not having features that you use, does not eliminate the luxury or opulence that once came with staying at this resort.

I don't think it's worth the cost. I've never stayed at a deluxe because I've never been able to afford it.

I do pay the extra hidden fee to stay at Pop because of the Skyliner, tho.

This is a bit of a overreaction.

That is a tired statement and a lazy one at that, no offense but I've seen this statement from the same 3 or 4 folks over and over. I don't see it as a lesser product, that's the point some don't get.

Its absurd to think that I shouldn't stay here simply because they don't offer these services, of which I personally don't care for anyway, just because they were offered before, at some point.

You wanna talk with you wallet, well I no longer shop at the World of Disney (Banana Republic) after the they gutted the best Disney store on this planet. I don't eat at California Grill because of its watered down overpriced prix fixe menu. Just a few examples, the GF isn't one of them.

:hilarious:
Always use points, so the cost savings is real vs the GF for sure. The rooms at those luxury resorts are updated and grounds are nice, but there really isn't anything special about them or their locations. The Grand is a splurge, an expensive one at that but if I had a choice, and the parks are a priority, I'd still pick the flagship.
at the end of the day...people will still choose Disney resorts, if for no other reason/"extra," than simply knowing that they are as close to the parks as they can be (not because of convenience of relative proximity compared to other lodgings, but because they love Disney that much).

Disney knows that much....but...they don't seem to know that they're doing a terrible job fostering the next generation of Disney fans.

To paraphrase what someone else said elsewhere...many hug WDW.....WDW doesn't hug back.

Tick. Tock.

that's why I don't wear jeans to either WDW or airport.

come to think of it...that's a major reason why I've avoided both for the last several years.

True for your upfront costs, but if you joined DVC the raise in point costs no longer impact you unless you are looking to buy more. Yes, you still have to deal with maintenance fee increases but those are tightly controlled and have to be spent on specific things.

Not claiming it is worth it to buy in at current prices, just that the cycle no longer applies once you are in.
2010…which if you notice is 5 years after the coronation…long Enough to really mess with it

The Disney deluxe hotels have Queen size beds and interior corridors. Restaurants feature food which is edible. Not bad enough to send back.

Isn't that deluxe enough?
I'd love a good comparator. What fine dining establishment is missing from the GF? You seem to have such a fine palette 😀 I've not be disappointed with the restaurants at the GF. Narcoossee's is still my wife and I's favorite on property.

I said this:

Yes a Disney Deluxe is less deluxe than non-Disney deluxes.

But, funny, you cut that out of the quote. It completely goes against the point you wanted to score.
I didn't cut it out.. it wasn't really all that relevant to my point that 'deluxe' has a meaning and intent.. and your attempt at moving the goal posts with "Disney Deluxe is deluxe compared to Moderate or Value resorts. Not in comparison to non-Disney deluxe accommodations." That's gaslighting.

Plus, it totally ignores the expectations Disney used for their own properties for ages. You don't call something a RESORT when you are trying to just say "well its really just our tier 3 property". They were setup to be RESORTS before there even were moderates. This 'well the naming is only of relative meaning' is nonsense.

Isn't one of them still a Michelin? I've never been (don't ever plan on it either), but I also remember Victoria & Albert's being #1 or #2 dining experience in all Florida many years.

My last few times I had "brunch" at Grand Floridian Cafe to give me the energy I needed for the rest of the day (never stayed at resort). Prices weren't bad at all imo, and A+ as far as I'm concerned.
