I’m always glad when they add to this attraction - it reassures me it’s here to stay for a bit longer! This little duo (boats and circus train) is so simple and charming I can’t figure out why it only exists in Anaheim and Paris.

And @TP2000 - my last ride on the boats (this summer… in June I think?) I did have the most stereotype storybook boat guide ever - and I loved it! She recited the speel just like it was 1957!

I think it’ll survive for a long time. Maybe as long as Disneyland does. Not that I don’t worry about it from time to time because of how much real estate it takes up. But my philosophy is the longer an attraction lasts the longer it will most likely last and be deemed too classic, integral or untouchable to remove. I think it helps that you have the connection to Walt’s love of miniatures and that this is in Walt’s original park.

I also think that the more they change all the other castle parks around the world such as Frontierland at MK or Adventureland at TDL, the more safe Disneylands original attractions are. Seems like that might be the train of thought at WDI/ Disney right now. As they find themselves cramming IP everywhere with the constant need to update this might be the plan that they’ve sort of reverse engineered. DL keeps the original classics because of the orignal/ Walt factor while the other castle parks have fewer untouchables outside of the POTC’s and Mansions of the world.

DL Forward and a potential 3rd gate also helps make sure the classics stick around for a while. Harder to justify bulldozing Storybookland when you have huge expansion pads across the street. Granted that doesn’t help MK/ WDW very much but they re a little more careful when it comes to DL.

Apologies if this post feels a bit off-topic but felt this was technically the best place for it. Fantasyland during the later evening hours is an absolutely magical place, something my wife and I go out of our way to experience at least one per trip. Having a slow day at work a few days ago, I was thinking about what I'd consider my favorite/the best way to experience this area at night would be and arrived at the Casey Jr. Circus Train. There are multiple ways to experience the attraction (different seat selections) and you're given a great tour of sights of Fantasyland throughout.

Part of how I arrived at that decision is because of the Storybook Land Canal Boats. On their own, they are not my favorite attraction, per se. I prefer to experience the area via Casey Jr. but there is absolutely no denying the magic that they bring to this little corner of the park. I love how interwoven the two attractions are (-and the smart use of space in the area) and I love that they are updating or adding to the miniatures to it because it's (hopefully) a sign that Disney plans to keep this area around for us to enjoy.

Like, seriously, they add so much and beauty and charm to the area as a whole. The twinkling light arches visible from the Casey Jr. queue in particular are an example of this. I know it's just some plants and some lights but something about everything coming together in those areas the way they do is just, dare I say, magical? It would be an absolute travesty to ever lose this area or attraction. I hope that never happens.

Agreed! Casey Jr/Fantasyland has become one of my favourite places to hit at 10:30. Well, until Disneyland started closing an hour earlier.

I do hope they improved the speakers and would love to see the train go electric as the open air car right behind the engine isn't bad, but it is hard to hear most of the track and the gas fumes aren't the best.

I for one hope they revert back to coal. Keep it authentic.
I know you’re joking but I don’t think that’s permitted in California - operating steam locomotives have to burn oil or wood as far as I know.

And of course the Casey Jr. Train was never an actual steam train. Just a random train thought!
