I've heard that not all Florida homes have heating. Do you guys just dust off the space heaters when it gets cold like this?

I know that our house in Lakeland didnt have central heat so with rare events like this we did huddle around a heater.

That's really cold for Florida!
One year we visited WDW and went to the MK. I will never forget that poor CM who stood shaking in the cold in tomorrow land. She had a coat, hat, scarf, and gloves on but was still very cold. It was in the 50's.
When we left where we live to visit WDW, it was -20 degrees, so 50 degrees felt like Spring to us, LOL.
It's all relative to what you are used to:)

My coworkers when I was a CM were shocked I wouldn't bother to wear our costume's coat during colder weather... Growing up in MA, unless it was in the 40's or below, why wear a heavy coat? I never did wear it!

I just realized while typing this that I no longer own an appropriate coat for this weather. I'm not doing anything tomorrow I guess.

Last year my heater went out and I was like "Do I really want to pay $1,500 to fix this, or should I buy a space heater?"

I should've bought the space heater. :P
Mine had to go out on an evening when it dipped into the mid 30s. It ended up being the coldest night in terms of ambient and feels like temperature of the season. $800+ in repairs over the course of two days.

I went to WDW one MLK weekend. To say that it was COLD is an understatement. It's not like I didn't know the forecast, fortunately. I wore every layer you can think of -- T shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, thick Nautica jacket with down lining, wool cap over my ears, scarf, thick gloves, jeans, thick socks. And I was still freezing my a** off in Epcot during FARTS. Extreme cold does occur in Florida.

50s? 50s? That's nothing. Try below freezing (below 32 degrees F).

The extremes in weather keep getting more extreme in both directions. Being from DE originally this isn’t extreme cold to me but for Orlando this is unusually cold and more akin to mid January weather.
