I have no idea what you are trying to correct. Marking something up and giving you a discount is a tactic used across many different markets and products.

There is significantly more competition in the furniture and jewelry space than the themed entertainment space. One operates as a part of a true free market where consumers can get roughly the same product from a variety of places and force them to compete.

Theme parks do not operate in that same economic vein.

Again. I am simply stating that price anchoring happens in nearly every market. Our brains allow it to be very effective.

Yeah where I dispute this with parks is this:

When you go to wdw…you buy things in “multiples”
7 nights
15+ meals
Times 2, 3, 4 party size

Those charges can’t be avoided and apply to everyone…so they have to be priced to make it all fit. And they’re becoming terrible at it.

Hook and discount pricing does that really work on such a non-essential product. It’s not that Disney doesn’t employ that tactic…they do…I just bet it crumbles when people click over to the “total” screen. She’ll shock.

When people buy a couch…a car…jewelery…they typically aren’t required to buy in multiples. Not the case with this.

They keep trying to pull the same tricks for the last 3 years

This is one of them

“Up to 35% off!” On hotel rooms (as they increase the prices) is another

“Kids eat free!” On a limited dining plan thing when you you pay full price for 5 other stipulations is another

“Up to $3000 off!” Massively overpriced dvc contracts is another

"Free Beer Tomorrow" is next.

I am not saying its good or bad for Disney. I simply said lots of industries do it. I am no economist but it obviously works or companies wouldn't do it. I have no idea if it is working for Disney or not. There is nothing to dispute with my statement unless your stance is that Disney isn't marking up prices then offering discounts.

There is no shell-shock for me anymore when it comes to Disney. I fully expect that the flea market quality shirt that reflects a 20% discount is going to cost me $40.

That used to mean wearing nice slacks or shorts, a collared shirt, and shoes that implied you were vaguely aware society had standards.

Now it seems to mean oversized sport shorts drifting well past the calves, a T-shirt with strategically placed holes and an inspirational message like “I'm with Stupid,” an appearance that suggests grooming was optional, and flip-flops or sandals that have clearly seen things no footwear should ever witness.

I think in some cases, combining this with a 1 day ticket to MK is actually cheaper than a 4 day 1 park ticket.

Edit just looked at my dates... I can get the 3 day ticket deal for $346 + a 1 day MK ticket on the day I want for $211 (total of $557) or a 4 day ticket for $696

Is a 4-day base ticket really $700 + tax now?!
