The current lobby is not the same as before but it’s still very much on theme. It feels as “tropical” as any hotel I’ve been to in Hawaii.Polynesian was the first and was way worse.

I stayed at the GF when it first opened. I loved it then and I love it now....first class. So, I've seen lots of changes at GF over the past many years, and I'm ok with a bar in the beautiful lobby [arguably the signature attraction of the resort]......but not in the middle of my living room!!!!adding a bar isn’t the issue - adding a bar in the middle of the lobby will certainly change the vibe.
I never said it wasn’t - it was indeed scarred though - much more than the GF.The current lobby is not the same as before but it’s still very much on theme. It feels as “tropical” as any hotel I’ve been to in Hawaii.
ahh...those days when there was a bar in every living roomI stayed at the GF when it first opened. I loved it then and I love it now....first class. Is this cause to hope for a Poly Lobby redo/RESTORE? I'll even be ok with a bar as the "price to pay"I stayed at the GF when it first opened. I loved it then and I love it now....first class.
In general, I've always loved bars. Never loved drinking.looks like the bar has working lights now, just seen this on TikTok;
The light bulbs in the lobby lamps were replaced so we can all stop panicking. They also removed the lampshades from the giant chandeliers and it looks good, among other new fixtures. It’s all looking really nice.View attachment 888182
It took me a minute to realise what was different, but it does not feel out of place. They also finally removed the tarps from backside of the stained glass domes.The lampshade removal is an interesting choice? Don’t hate it. I wonder if it’s permanent, waiting for new shades or just a test to see if it “works”?
Seriously doubt it, but they could certainly use it to distribute seasonal product and just switch up the nature of the gingerbread display instead of selling out of the house. The Easter cottage also comes to mind in this situation.Hmm……. Could the birdcage bar become a gingerbread house? Like is that the plan? Decorate the bar with gingerbread - add some ginger beer and cookies to the menu and now you don’t have to construct the house each year?
Yes exactly. - see this actually makes the project make sense. Rather than building kiosks each year - have a “bar” that can be easily converted for this.The Easter cottage also comes to mind in this situation.
Not to mention why not put the bar in the still unused after 5 years tea room?Yes exactly. - see this actually makes the project make sense. Rather than building kiosks each year - have a “bar” that can be easily converted for this.
Cause that’s been the questions from day 1 - why do they need a bar in the middle of the lobby when enchanted rose is rarely (if ever?) at capacity.
I hope the answer to that is that they’re planning to reopen the tea room.Not to mention why not put the bar in the still unused after 5 years tea room?

Ironically…. Mary would most likely be at the bar ordering a rum punch… her favorite!For real … Mary Poppins themed afternoon tea would be everything.
