MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

I'm sorry but I would hesitate to call Geo82 relaxed. It is extremely chaotic and loud in there in any video I have watched of it. You want relaxed, go to Turf Club Lounge, Martha's Vineyard, Ale & Compass Lounge...geo82 is not exactly quiet

Maybe depends when you go but when I was there it felt quite relaxed and low pressure and just people hanging out. Very friendly and low key staff. It isn't quiet/like a library or anything but we felt it was great for taking a load off from time in the parks - maybe a better term would be "low stimulation" vs something like B&B or just the rest of a theme park, did feel like a break from that

Same for us when we were there on July 4th, at around 3pm. The ambiance per se felt relaxing, we were able to enjoy our drinks/food and carry a conversation. We were reminded about the time limit at the podium, and then again while ordering, though. I wouldn't say I felt pressured, just aware.

From what I've seen, Beak and Barrel is very different: shorter time limit, kids allowed, with lots of things to look at, and a quite lively atmosphere.

I agree on all counts, and overall think this is where Epcot runs into a bit of an issue with what a lot of Disney fans expect from 'theming'.

I get the impression people feel everything should be along the lines of Space 220 in that part of the park, whereas Future World was always more a more 'modern' vibe than themed to a particular time or place. While the design of Geo-82 is not perfect, I also don't think it's a terrible fit for the location. That includes being more squarely pitched at adults and having a far more relaxed vibe.

Yeah, even something like the Coral Reef Restaurant wasn't themed to match the pavilion.

While the pavilion itself was all about selling the illusion of traveling to an underwater base in the ocean (and incredibly good at that illusion), the restaurant, even with its aquarium views, was basically just a restaurant. It wasn't themed as part of the underwater base (at least that I remember, maybe it was at some point early on and I'm wrong).

Just like Oga’s, in a few years when most have had a chance to check it out and experience, it will become easier to get a reservation and they may potentially be less strict on the 45min limit if the demand is a little softer.

Will be interesting to see if it like that or like Trader Sam's which is still challenging to get in (though I don't think that has an explicit time limit and isn't open all day) - but guess is somewhere in between but we shall see .... definitely shouldn't be *as* hard over time

True, but I would say the big difference between BB and TSGG is that TS is like 50 people max and no time limit and also not behind a park ticket paywall. I’ve lucked out a few times with slow TS evenings but yes its usually packed.

Ixnay on the urf Club-tay... ;) I like the quiet ambiance there while enjoying some of Disney's Creek barrel pick. Don't want it ruined by the unwashed commoners. 🤪

For us, until they change the menu offerings, its a pass. There are better options close by. Steakhouse 71 Lounge has far better menu and drink selection.

So I have seen a LOT of complaints on Reddit about the seating methods at B&B - mainly that they aren't cognizant of seating "like" parties together. So folks that are there with their kids are seated with adults only groups, etc. A large number of people said it was really awkward as two adults when they got seated with a family of four or 5. I know that the 45 minute turn and the communal seating makes them be able to sell the place x times over what you could do with individual parties, but I will agree that this makes for awkward encounters if they aren't even taking the party types into consideration when they're seating folks.

I know for us we took our kids to Oga's last time because my son loves Star Wars and we wanted to do something special with him after he spent all day in line waiting for princesses/characters with his sister, and we got seated with a group of four - six adults (I can't remember) but it was extremely awkward, you could tell they didn't really want to be seated with kids, and on top of that, our server blatantly ignored us for almost the entire time we were in there (and I can only assume that was because he thought we wouldn't provide "value" since we'd be ordering non-alcoholic drinks). It was probably the worst experience I've ever had in a Disney dining establishment and it made me not want to go back to Oga's ever again. If Beak and Barrel is doing the same thing it will be a no-go for us because no one should have to sit through that awkwardness and strangeness while you're trying to enjoy your vacation.

I hadn’t really thought about that - mixing all adults with families at a themed bar is an interesting issue.
Should that really be all that big of an issue do you think?

I mean sure personal taste may vary, but if you are in an all adult party, you know/should know what your getting yourself into. It's not like you spend money on going to an adults only resort and all of a sudden got stuck at chucky cheese (exaggeration for effect.) You are going to a pirate themed lounge in WDW....the chances of finding yourself child adjacent have to be pretty high. It would seem to be unrealistic in a timed setting to have hosts/seaters not only having to fit parties of different sizes into the space, but to also try and match demographic make up as well.

You don't? Unless you are going to section the place off into an Adult Section vs Family section, having hosts keep track of the demo on who they are seating, or restricting reservations so you only have x number of family reservations or number of adult per seating period, and making sure that you don't have people getting stuck waiting long past their reservation time because you are seating too many adult parties vs family parties or vice versa seems pretty complicated to me for no real ROI? Seems a lot simpler to just be first come first serve, and if you don't like it, either wait for another table, or go someplace else.

For what it's worth, when I went last week the location was 98% adults. I don't remember seeing or hearing a single young child. There were a few teens, but no one much younger. I don't know what the average experience is, but mine was at 3pm on a Wednesday.
