DHS Disney Confirms Muppets Take Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

I know a lot here bemoan that the Muppets haven’t been in any relevant media recently and that it hurts their awareness of the IP, but is it so bad if the Muppets become something that is more unique to the parks? I definitely welcome any new Muppets shows or movies that may be made in the future, but also don’t mind if they just chill out at the parks as well

For what it's worth, my 14 year old daughter loves the much-maligned 2015 ABC show. She found that on her own, probably via social media. Let us not forget that there is a whole generation which communicates almost exclusively in meme, and Kermit-drinking-tea is hugely popular.

I rewatched a few episodes a few weeks ago. While some of the guests have aged to the point where I had no idea who they were anymore, the Muppets were still hilarious.

I apologize if this insight has been offered before but its for those born in last 35 years. And i apologize for those this post will upset as there is a bit of overgeneralization/license here. Growing up, unless you had The Disney (premium) Channel (I didn't...only got to see it when visiting someone who did...ì felt it was the ritz of TV), you basically only had 2 options lift for kids' tv: really cr*pppy animation or Muppets: Fraggle Rock on HBO (another premium channel), Muppet Show reruns (which where I lived was sporadiclly shown at best) or Sesame Street). Compared to most animation, Muppets were AMAZING. Then Disney TV Animation entered the scene...still "limited" animation, but vastly better than virtually all preexisting TV animation...and...just speaking for myself, it instantly made much of the Muppets stuff inferior to me. I feel that's a major reason why they never recovered their all time apex.

Of course! Loved Reading Rainbow! Hence the overgeneralization lol. I loved LeVar Burton! I give him 100% credit for making that show as great as possible. As a 5 year old I used to pretend I was him hosting the show!

for those who had cable....and Nickelodeon as part of their cable company's channel lineup, yes. I just reviewed an article on their 80's programing...it seems not too much original programing at first. Again, I started by saying it was a bit of overgeneralization...and I'm not knocking those who had it &/or enjoyed it.

I saw a clip from the Muppet Mayhem show once.

It had Weird Al in it. Somehow, somehow, Muppet Mayhem made Weird Al not funny.

I am traumatized by that clip. I remember every joke because every one was just so unfunny it was like a scar on my brain.

If that show is considered a highlight of modern Muppets...good God...

You made it further than me into the series lol...and I love Electric Mayhem. I'm hoping for some nice surprises from RR revamp.

If we watched the same clip of Al in the moon, I had the opposite reaction. Al got the chuckle, Floyd did not. The delivery of the lines and the stillness of the puppet made Floyd feel more lifeless than green screened Al.

I've only seen three episodes of Muppets Mayhem. The stuff with the Electric Mayhem themselves was pretty good, but they wasted so much time on the dull human leads.

It was better than Muppets Now, at least.

That's the problem they seem to focus more on the humans that Interact with The Muppets whereas it should be the other way around where they should just be there for their song, joke and skit and be on their way...It was called The Muppet Show for a Reason not the Humanimals Show..

They've said RnR Aerosmith is closing in 2026, then reopening with The Muppets the same year.
Pure speculation about all the new offerings in Hollywood Studios next year, but we know the Mando mission for Smuggler's Run is May 22, 2026, so I can see them trying to open both RnR Muppets and new Magic of Animation around the same time like they opened Little Mermaid and Villains at the same time this year??

Aerosmith RNRC's closing date is announced in December, closes mid January. Electric Mayhem opens in summer 2026, possibly with Animation Courtyard to draw people to that side of DHS.
