Today, BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio, announced that the feature-length Bluey movie will be released in cinemas August 6, 2027.

Written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios, the CG-animated feature is produced by Amber Naismith and co-directed by Richard Jeffery (Bluey, Series 1–3). Joe Brumm is the executive producer, alongside Justine Flynn for BBC Studios, with Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson from Ludo Studio. Absolutely….it will be appointment viewing for families
It will be big with families for sure. But let's not forget about the adult bluey fans. They could end up being what makes it huge instead of just big. And there's a lot of adult Bluey fans out there. Lol

I’ll just get myself in here to requote myself in a few years. “Huge” on one of these types of films is a few hundred million.

I anticipate a micro budget, like the Paw Patrol movie. Maybe I’ll be blown away. But I’m not anticipating a Minecraft, Stitch, Mario, Minions type audience. It’ll still make mint because of its budget and probable long streaming shelf life.

It depends, the latest Paw Patrol movie was $30M in 2023. If we're going just based on show costs, Bluey is cheap at ~$87K per 7 minute episode. Which would be less than $1M per hour of content. However we know that a ~90 minute movie is going to be way more than $1.5M, and this is Disney we're talking about even if they aren't directly financing it they will likely want something bigger for the big screen.

So I could see a between $30M-$50M budget for this.

This will still make bank but as with most things Disney... it's about 3 years too late.
Disney I'm sure wasn't the hold up here with regards to a movie. Disney is just a distributor here. Bluey is produced and created out of Australia by Ludo Studios in partnership with the BBC.

Its actually because of Disney that its become the international hit that is has. And it was only in 2024 when the shows creators decided that it was time for a feature length movie, primarily after they saw how well the 28 minute episode The Sign was received.

So this isn't a Disney decision, its a Ludo Studios decision.

We'll know Disney is in trouble if Bluey makes more money than Pixar's Gatto.
