Trip Report Always two there are. No more. No less.

Remember how in the final push for my previous TR when I had to make a bullet point list of the wild events in my last year?

Here comes a list of the things that happened in between writing the end of the last TR and the start of this one.

“How much could have possibly happened in a day and a half BES?!?” you are surely asking yourself.

Well…

• There’s an area rug sized hole in our family room ceiling.
• We have to replace a furnace
• DH decided not to go on the trip (due to above)

There might have been more stuff tbh but I’m too tired to fully process all of this now. More detailed explanations coming later.

So now it’s just me and lil BES on the trip.

I still don’t have full use of my left hand due to my fracture in November. I’ve only gotten a few hours of sleep. And lil BES has thrown some epic tantrums lately.

If I wasn’t sticking with Star Wars themed titles the runner up was:

Special lady time the vacation edition has already commenced.

They truly have less than no filter at this stage

Many years ago, at MK no less, one of my daughters loudly announced to me "Daddy why does that lady want us to see her underwear?" The woman spun around and glared at me! Not my fault that her skirt was so short and her top was so loose, that indeed we could see her underwear.

The fact that you all managed to keep it together at all is nothing short of a miracle!

Saturday January 25th (Day 2) continued:

Our special lunch was at Akershus. (I spell crazy drug names at work all the time but Akershus always stumps me. )

While waiting to be called inside, lil BES found a bread tie. Much amusement.

This meal was a Disney first for us both. I had selected it due to the princesses and the smoked salmon. Lil BES loooooves smoked salmon. She has declared one of the best restaurants to be IKEA because you can just buy a plate of smoked salmon there.

Our server Kristian was great. I really enjoyed some of the more traditional Norwegian food and told him I wished there was more Norwegian choices.

Kristian told me: “Oh no you don’t. This is the best we have. No seriously. The rest is a lot of rotten fish.”

I thought the setup for seeing the princesses was well done. We saw Cinderella first. Lil BES was enthralled.

Next up was Aurora. Lil BES was terrified.

Aurora’s “friend” tried so hard to win lil BES back. After she finished our section she tried again and suggested that I hold lil BES and a server could take the photo. That did the trick.

Lil BES was all smiles for those held pics and the remaining princesses.

(Also- I want it duly noted that my hair was not gray… during this trip)

We ended with Belle, Rapunzel and Ariel who (plus Tiana) are lil BES’s top-tier princesses.

The surprise favorite of the meal was the dessert trio.

There are three desserts. A strawberry one. An apple one and a chocolate one.

Lil BES loves all desserts but strawberry anything is her favorite. She noted that the chocolate one would be mine and that “the apple one is for dad. He would love it.”

Lil BES still randomly brings up this meal (mostly the desserts) and stated we have to go back “because dad missed it”.

From pictures it appeared lil BES had a stroller nap soon after lunch and I had well deserved beer.

We played in the Moana water thing after the nap.

Two hours later I have this pic from the Spyglass Grill.

What we did in those two hours in anyone’s guess. My notes and picture taking were lacking this trip.

But what I lacked in note and picture taking I made up for in core memory making?

I did note we ended the night with a big meltdown. That’s pretty par for the course for a three-nager so overall I would consider this another great day.

She did allow a peek in the gift shop. An older lady made a big deal about her red hair and even touched it.

I mention her age only to say I guess she gets a grandma pass on the touching?

I know people are coming from a good place on this but it just seems weird.

Sunday January 26th (Day 3):

Lil BES woke up at 0745. Despite her spice the night before she was in a notably sweet this morning.

Sweet but not very efficient. Especially not with a TV in the room.

I didn’t convince her to leave the room until 0945 and that was only because I told a little white lie that we had to leave for Mousekeeping.

“Helping” with the stroller:

My plan was for DHS this morning so I decided we would eat something at the Skyliner Joffreys.

I know I had coffee. (Obviously) and I know lil BES had an obligatory huge Joffrey’s donut. (Pink with sprinkles). Can’t remember what I ate but I know I was starving so I’m sure it tasted amazing.

(One of the things I would have done differently had I known I would be the sole adult, would have planned better for room food options.)

The DHS Skyliner line was down so we hopped on a bus.

Lemme give a full view of lil BES’s ‘fit, rainbow swim googles and all:

The first order of business was the BatB show. Lil BES LOVED it. She was totally enthralled the entire show.

I think at some point before the show someone near us excitedly spotted Mr. Cheesy Pop?

That meant nothing to me then and now- still nothing. I’m guessing he’s an influencer of some kind?

DHS is short on activities for toddlers. I’m pretty sure we just had a pre-lunch ice cream and headed back to CBR.

We had lunch at the CBR food court, eating it outside, which is a special winter treat for Northerners.

Heading back to the room we came across a seashell painting experience.

Lil BES had a lot of fun with the seashell painting. It wasn’t too crazy of a price and it doubled as a souvenir.

She was a little leery that Donald and Goofy showed up for a surprise meet and greet. Luckily they smartly kept their distance from her. (Many other kids were excited for their interactions though)

Miraculously the painted seashell remains in one piece to this day.
