It should probably be noted that this is an off-the-shelf-coaster that is replicated at two other parks around the world (Flight Force at DLP and Platform 13 at Walibi Hollans), and is 1 of 2 WDW's non-custom built coaster (Barnstormer being the other one) so the overall theming does matter to some coaster heads to make it different enough to visit, especially those in Europe who can easily access the other 2 clones
Flight of Fear at Kings Island, too.

No, they're completely different. The two Flight of Fears also have duplicates in Jokers Jinx, Poltergeist and Mad Cobra.

Those are actually in my Top 20 coasters of all time, they're brilliant. Not so much the Flight of Fears because they have the mid course brake that really slows the second half down although they have the great theming and the atmosphere of being in the dark, but the outdoor ones are completely bonkers. Experienced a great moment during last year's RCCGB USA road trip where we allowed into the centre of Poltergeist to wander around before the park opened. I have a picture of myself standing through the middle of the track of one of my favourite coasters!

No, I don't believe so. My opinion is most people just don't have the interest in Muppets any more. You could CGI Woody Woodpecker and it wouldn't have a huge following either.
Every now and then there seems to be a hint Disney wants to take more seriously their 2004 investment of The Muppets....like today's rumor of The Muppet Show reboot. Plus, now I'm getting way ahead of things here, if the reboot is indeed happening plus the venue remains the same theater owned by JP Grosse (soon-to-be owner of G-Force Records), then could it be all the more plausible MV3D moves into the theater currently occupied by the Villains?

I have no idea. Disney just doesn't put a lot of money in anything Muppets.

Actually that is a big win as well for this retheme, RNRC has a gift shop so hopefully they will fill it with many many Muppets items!
History tells us that Disney doesn't much care about Muppets merch. The Muppet vision store went from being really good in the mid 90s early 2000s, to a back corner barely stocked, to they couldn't bother to open it after covid. As someone who could fill a large room with nothing but Muppet stuff, I'd love to be wrong. The best I see is they have some stuff when it opens, and then the restock rate goes in the toilet once the "new" hype dies down.

I'd definitely by a Walter dressed in RnR garb --- Muppets Merch would fly off the shelves IMO.

Again, I haven't been in a while, it bothered me I never saw much Muppet merch/presence outside of MV3D....and I only saw Kermit, Piggy, and Sweetums (at least post-MV3D opening).

Counterpoint, RNRC has usually always had a good amount of ride specific merch. Yes the muppet vision store slowly lost all its good muppet stuff, but that trend of merch homogenization happened all across the parks. Disney is spending the money to retheme RNRC, fresh rethemed merch doesn’t seem like it’d be too far out of realm to happen as well

From the January Parks Blog
We know so many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy will be a perfect fit for this coaster. Plus, as the first Disney ride ever to feature The Muppets, there’s sure to be laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure and plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard!
