Okay, got around to seeing it now.

It's not something so bad that I will actively avoid it like Harmonious. I haven't seen one of these since I was 10, but I was looking in here beforehand so I knew going in that there's normally significantly more in these things.

It was fine, entertaining for 14 minutes. If I was in the park at night again I might see it. I listened to the soundtrack a couple of times afterwards but it's already losing its luster. It was nice being able to ditch immediately after some nighttime entertainment and not get caught in the fireworks mob.

I'm reading through the thread now and will try to avoid repeating comments:

- The princess float is supposed to be just four couples? There was so much room around Aurora and Philip I thought some performers called out, but then the remaining princess options showed up in the end float (except Ariel, but you guys say she's not in this). Was there rotating choreography I didn't see?

- There's an already discussed pile of reasons Wish shouldn't be here, and following the Blue Fairy starting the parade that wants you to find the concept of wishing on stars magical and special with a movie that's blatantly trying to be a metaphor against that concept adds to that pile of reasons.

- People seem to feel they had to have a Main Street Electrical Parade nod, and I'm not saying they shouldn't have referenced it at all, but making the entire end float a remix of a previous parade just gives the impression you don't have faith in your own music. It's the grand finale and they want me thinking about a different parade?

I mean, it was the most memorable part of the music, but maybe instead they should have come up with something that was their own but just as good and memorable? And maybe years from now people will be eagerly referencing that beautiful music from Starlight that everyone just loves?

If you watched it last night Tana and Naveen were missing during the 9 PM show.

Really? I don't get that vibe at all, the main original theme is woven throughout the entire parade including in the last unit. I think having "Baroque Hoedown" at the end was a great fun callback to MSEP, it's a great version of it too.

Makes sense! Thanks

It's the end of the parade; the end is going to be one of the most important parts because it's the last thing people see and so naturally going to color their impressions more than something ten minutes ago. It should be the part where the music really pulls out all the stops to make sure your final impression is "wow, that was great".

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir and you know that already. And I'm sure someone involved in this knew that, too.

There are infinite ways they could do that, music-wise, and they chose to recycle music from a previous parade instead of coming up with something that would make their parade stand on its own. It makes an enjoyable end, but not because of Starlight. They chose to have their last impression be "Remember MSEP?" instead of making sure you would always remember Starlight, and that didn't make a good impression to me. A brief nod would be one thing, but they have at least equal time in there.

Also, MSEP music is great and I know a lot of people have wonderful memories of it, but I don't, and having the finale of the parade I got to show up for be "man, wasn't the other parade you didn't get to see really something?" isn't what I was hoping for out of a climax. I get enough of that in Epcot.
