Was it Goonies? I wasn't allowed to watch that as a kid so I didn't recognize it. I did watch it a couple of years ago, but I think it's one of those nostalgia things and since I didn't see it back when it was popular, it didn't really resonate. On a side note, I love Hope's tink hoodie!

How old is Hope now? I keep hoping A will get better about trying new foods, but he's 17 now and still not usually willing to try new stuff. That ravioli looked really good!

Why is it so hard to find the ride share pick up there!? We wandered all over the place and had to ask directions three times! I was using Google maps and still had trouble! Same with the other Disney outlet. We did luck out with what we got so it was worth it, but it was a challenge!

Can you report it in the Lyft app? I know you can with Uber. We had a driver who spent the entire drive texting on his phone. He had the phone mounted to the dash and we could see everything he was texting though he was trying to be really quiet so we wouldn't notice. Traffic was really slow and stopping a lot, but it's still unsafe, so when we got out and it asked for a review, I checkmarked the unsafe driving box. I'm assuming Lyft would have to have something like that too?

Do you have Lid'l there? They do different countries every week and this year in the American week they started carrying tater tots. I just bought a bag today. I hadn't had them since our last trip to the US! I was so excited to find them because we can't get them here either. But they only have them this one week.
It was The Goonies! One of my favorites!

Hope is 16! It's hard to believe! My babies are getting so big! There are definitely certain textures that she does not like, but we always "encourage" (aka force) her to try new things! lol. We have a reward system in place too.. so that usually helps her to give new things a try and she has surprised herself with some things she likes.

Yes - we did report it in the Lyft APP. If it was just an unfortunate occurrence, I would not have reported him, but I did feel unsafe with his driving, so I felt it was appropriate.

Never heard of Lid'l - but I looked it up and there is one about an hour from my house.

Thanks for reading along. Good to see you on the boards!

We've never forced A to try stuff, because when I was growing up, my mother would force me to not only try things, but to eat things I had already tried many times and didn't like, and I got in trouble for showing any sign of not liking it. I wasn't allowed to make a face, or say I didn't like it, and heaven help me if my gag reflex kicked in. I still have a difficult relationship to food because of it, and I won't do that to my kids. We've always encouraged them to try new things, and we had a sticker chart for a while, but it never really helped and he had such anxiety that it wasn't worth it. Every once in a while he'll try something new, and I hope as he grows that it will get better. I was always very picky, and a lot of it was texture-related, and I've gotten a lot better as an adult now that I know it's OK not to like everything and there's no one forcing me to continue to eat it if I don't like it. So I'm hopeful the same will hold true for him as he matures.

I don't know what Lidl is like in the US. I'm pretty sure it's a German store? But it's a lot like Aldi over here, though Lidl generally is larger and has more of a selection. I've never been to an Aldi in the US, but from what I hear from people on here, it seems like Aldi over there is a lot bigger than it is here. There is an Aldi 2 minutes walking from my house, but I almost never go there because I don't like it. There's no selection, they only have the most basic things, etc. Lid'l does at least have MORE, but still not like an average grocery store. The biggest difference I see is that Lidl does weekly sales where they have certain products, just for that one week. Like they have American week and you can get specialty popcorn, chicken strips, onion rings (but they aren't real onion rings. They are pureed onion mxed with batter and deep fried), maple syrup, etc...things you can't usually get here. During French week, you can get macarons, cheeses, brioche, etc. During Asian week you can get mochi, gyoza, etc. At Easter or Christmas, you'll see a lot of specialty items for your holiday dinner, like vienette type ice creams, green beans wrapped in bacon, potato gratins, etc. But I don't know how that all translates to the US stores.

I love Aldi here! I don't do all of my grocery shopping there, but I really like the produce and I like how the organic produce doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I also like that their store brand items don't have artificial dyes in them (I know you don't have to worry about that).

So to wrap up Flower & Garden...

Day 10 - May 7, 2025 Going Home

We had our hotel room booked until May8 which meant we could leave all our stuff in our room. After we packed up and had our last batch of Mickey Waffles we headed over to Epcot.

Our Lyft driver got a little lost. Well actually, he didn’t get lost, his GPS was taking him all sorts of ways and rerouting him. Even he was confused. Finally, we made it!

We ate wayyyyy too much, but it was all so yummy!

Hope could not say goodbye to EPCOT without one final crepe.

Funny - crazy story... As I was waiting for Hope's crepe, a rude woman very impatiently waited in front of me for her order which included two crepes and two glasses of an alcoholic beverage. When her order was called, she looked at her food in disbelief. She asked the CM if her order was correct. She had gotten 2 ham and cheese crepes. The CM looked bewildered and said yes - it was correct. The woman did not seem to believe her. She then picked up the crepes and tried to figure out how to transport all her items with two hands. Her friend had disappeared. The woman looked at the young CM again and told her to carry the rest of her food over to where her friend was!! The poor CM.... She said she could not leave the booth. Can't make this stuff up! So the woman who said some nasty words to the CM carried her crepes over to her friend and then came back to get her drinks! But the story isn't over yet. The woman came back again with her crepes. She plooped them down on the counter in front of the CM and asked if she was sure it was a crepe. The poor CM... She assured her it was. Then the woman asked if the outside was edible!

We made the sad walk over to Beach Club where we called a Lyft back to the Residence Inn.

IMG_3958.JPG

Our flight was still on time so I think else was nervous that we would be late. Especially since today was the first day of the real ID rollout. I wasn’t too worried because terminal C seems pretty laid-back.

We got back to the hotel gathered our stuff use the bathroom and then called a Lyft to the airport. Of course, 10 minutes into the ride we found out our flight was delayed about two hours. If it only come a few minutes earlier, we could’ve relaxed and slowed down a little bit.

We got to MCO and looked around the shops a bit.

By now, our flight was around three hours delayed. We decided to have dinner at Sunshine Diner. It was very good as always.

I picked up a coffee for the road or should I say the sky.

Once our plane arrived, we all boarded.

Unfortunately, a storm had blown in, so we had to sit on the runway for about an hour and a half. Ross and I both thought they were going to cancel the flight and deplane us, but finally we took off. It was a turbulent flight, but no other issues. Well... until we landed at Newark. Apparently, the construction had our flight diverted to a different terminal. After our plane landed, our pilot announced that there was no connecting ramp that connected the plane to the terminal! We had to sit on the plane for about another hour while maintenance could find one and drive it over to us! By the time we got off the plane it was almost 2:30am. It was a long flight home!
That wraps up our F&G trip. Thanks for sticking it out with me.

Up next ... a trip 33 years in the making.
