Walt Disney World Ride Elimination Game

This is a hard one to rank. As with Rise, the sheer scale and complexity of the operation are undeniably impressive and can lead to uneven experiences from one visit to the next. But then there's the unique element of live animals...one almost feels bad voting "against" them, and they raise all kinds of questions about what a Disney ride ought to be. Personally I'd probably rank it around #7 or so, but I imagine guests exist for whom it'd be tops (as well as those who may find it boring or even objectionable).

At this point my back is screaming in agony to please remove space.
You can put away the ibuprofen...looks like SM's a goner this round!

Cosmic Rewind is by far in the top 3 rides in Disney. I guess everyone is going for nostalgia.
I think Spaceship Earth, Space Mountain, and The People Mover, although I love them all, should have been gone a while ago.
Its whatever people like isnt it? My first elemination before anything would have been Living with the Land, hands down. With all the replacements they are doing i do not get why that is still around…but people seem to like it…

What would even replace the Peoplemover? There is nothing that could really go in its space. Been there tried that at Disneyland and it was a colossal failure and responsible for why there is still nothing operating on their PM tracks, 25 years later. I say, it takes up no usable space, leave it be! I'm biased of course since it's one of my favorites. I'm with you on Space Mountain; it's so rough it's crazy. I don't know how people even enjoy it. Needs at least a full retrack before I would ride again. Spaceship Earth needs some love, but it's again a situation of there's only so much you could put in the space occupied by it, so not sure it needs to go.

I believe they meant they should have been eliminated a while ago, not removed from the parks.

1. No it's not.

I guess everyone is going for nostalgia.

2. Multiple informal fallacies rolled into one.

I think Spaceship Earth, Space Mountain, and The People Mover, although I love them all, should have been gone a while ago.

3. You are free to say that but it's just an opinion. Mine is that Spaceship Earth is the heart of EPCOT and Cosmic Rewind should have never been built (as is).

Also yeah people just kinda admitted they are going purely off of nostalgia by voting space mountain over the ride that's just straight up the better version of it, pretty disappointing but also not surprising for this forum ngl, I thought it'd be eliminated earlier because of that. Honestly with what everyone was saying on here when the ride was still being developed, I think the fact it still lasted this long speaks volumes on how good it is. The blatant admission of voting primarily on nostalgia is really funny though

Anyway I forgot to vote apparently so um Big Thunder I guess? idk I really like everything left at this point

I'm kind of disappointed with you guys. When SSE and LwtL got eliminated, I feel like we were pretty dignified and accepted that different people have different opinions. But when Cosmic Rewind gets eliminated, you guys throw a fit and start slinging around ad hominems.

In particular, claiming that someone likes the old thing "because nostalgia" is one of the most tired ad hominems on the internet (dismissing someone's claims because they have a personal connection to something).

I claimed that SSE is the heart of EPCOT, and I claimed that Cosmic Rewind should have never been built. I did not "blatantly admit" I voted based on nostalgic, and it is extremely dishonest for you to misrepresent me as having done so. If you want to know why I think the way you do, you could just ask, instead of you (and multiple other posters) just implying I (and multiple others) am irrational.

All the while maintaining the typical Disney fan victim complex of "not surprising for this site" and "I'm surprised it got this far" okay then why are we still complaining?

I think what might be adding to the saltiness is CR had 5 votes to be eliminated and Space had 7, but those votes were randomly thrown out after 36 hours, and then a separate poll was given about 8 hours before eliminating CR (though that poll has also settled into 5 votes for CR and 7 votes for Space).

Cosmic Rewind
Cosmic Rewind
Cosmic rewind
I'm voting for Cosmic Rewind again, but I don't mind the suggestion of Rise either...I do find it impressive, but it's already eliminated with a star on the wait time map whenever I want to ride it anyway. Like when you buy a fancy car with so many high-tech bells and whistles that it's stuck in the shop half the time getting repairs, replacements, and recalls. The complexity is awe-inspiring, but at a certain point reliability counts for something too, and it's frustrating how often that one will let you down. (It's not as much of a problem at Disneyland because there's so much else to do there, whereas Studios lacks a deep lineup of worthwhile attractions, and is also the least attractive park environment to hang out and just kill time in.)
I can. CR makes me wanna puke if I ride it more than 2 times in a row. I can ride Space on a loop.

So CR gets my vote.

Space Mountain
At this point I am looking at the remaining list to determine what ride I would skip, if I had limited time.
Right now, Space Mountain gets my vote next. It needs a refurb. I miss the pitch black.
Vote ——-> Space mountain

some of y’all hate things because they’re new and it’s edgy to hate those things, but no can argue to me with a straight face that Space is a better ride experience than Cosmic
Space Mountain
Space Mountain. My back still hates me for the last ride I had on it.
I’ll go with space mt

That's completely fair and that being the case I can agree that Space Mountain and Cosmic Rewind should switch places.

But I mean... if you believe this is the case (not necessarily singling you out in particular), the issue should be brought up with OP @DisneyAndUniversalFan

Disingenuous comments fallaciously dismissing other view points are not taking anyone anywhere.

ok so a couple things

"In particular, claiming that someone likes the old thing "because nostalgia" is one of the most tired ad hominems on the internet"

Because this is genuinely a very common thing on this website (and the internet as a whole for that matter, this is far from a wdwmagic or disney fandom thing). Like, look at pretty much any thread here and you'll see people just blindly complaining about anything new here. Tons of people will say stuff based on nothing but nostalgia. Pointing out things that are clearly true is not an ad hominem. I think you're taking this more personally than it is, everyone has their mind influenced by nostalgia to some extent, this really isn't a personal insult and it's something that effects everyone's opinions. I also think it's worth mentioning that this is the sort of thing that can effect someone's opinions subconsciously, no one is actively deciding things specifically for nostalgia.

"I claimed that SSE is the heart of EPCOT"

I don't disagree with that, I don't think anyone else was either so idk what this has to do with anything.

"and I claimed that Cosmic Rewind should have never been built"

You're kinda proving my point by saying this. They replaced a very unpopular ride with a fan favorite. This was pretty much objectively a good decision, and I don't mean in a business/money way either (not that it wasn't a great decision for that either). They replaced a boring and 45 minute ride that most people didn't care for, or even outright disliked, with one of the most popular disney rides, and one of the most popular roller coasters, ever. Now, whether you specifically (or anyone else) actually prefers the ride is a completely subjective thing, obviously. Particularly if someone doesn't like roller coasters, then this change wouldn't actually benefit you. But to outright say it never should have been built, is going beyond subjective opinion and is suggesting that replacing an unpopular ride with a very popular ride that a TON of people enjoy, was a bad choice, and that's the kind of opinion that clearly has to come from nostalgia or some other form of bias. Especially considering there wasn't even a roller coaster in the park before Cosmic Rewind, and that is one of the most popular types of rides. Like, to give an example of how this claim is kinda ridiculous; I personally don't like sports, like at all. In fact I'd go as far as to say I strongly dislike them. But I wouldn't say that the super bowl shouldn't be a thing just because I don't personally like it. Similar logic applies here, just because you preferred the Energy ride (At least, I'm assuming this is your reasoning?) doesn't mean it shouldn't have been replaced.

"All the while maintaining the typical Disney fan victim complex of "not surprising for this site" and "I'm surprised it got this far" okay then why are we still complaining?"

I wasn't really complaining exactly, I was moreso saying to the person I was replying to that it's indeed the reason it was voted out. I find it amusing more than anything else how blatant the nostalgia bias was shown there since it's essentially a better version of the other option. I recall someone in here earlier asking about why people were voting out Cosmic Rewind, and I didn't answer it then as I didn't want people to get ed, but since it was already eliminated now, I figured it was fine to explain that.

Anyway, I don't want to derail the thread any further, so I'm not gonna keep talking about it this and I'm leaving it here. Just thought I should explain things a bit more since you seemed annoyed.
