Iran qualified for the World Cup and will here in the USA during the tournament. That should be interesting.

I expect the temperature to lower next year if we still have midterm elections, since polls show most Americans don't approve. I suspect it's why they're speedrunning all these plans this year.

And 900 lbs of uranium is missing🙄sounds like that convincing talk of WMD being there.
Everytime I hear about these 900 lbs of enriched uranium I have to laugh a bit. I would have thought that the Iranians wouldn't be stuck in a time loop trying to replicate Little Boy... anyone that kept up with nuclear physics through the 60's should know that it is far easier to just turn thorium into U233 than it is to pull U235 out of uranium ore.... and the kicker is it takes only about 1/10 as much U233 to make a bomb as it does U235.... If they had just moved past the first type bombs they could have already made dozens for far less trouble than they have gone through chasing another Little Boy bomb.

That downplays how much more difficult it is to procure thorium and process for U233 vs. U235.

Besides, right or wrong, the general thought process of most countries seems to be that they don't need anything more than a 1940s level bomb plus delivery method to ensure they are largely left alone.

“This destination will be authentically Emirati in style, but fully Disney in experience.

“We want visitors to feel the culture of the UAE while enjoying the magic of Disney.”

Upon completion, the new resort will offer Disney entertainment and attractions, themed hotels, and unique dining and retail experiences.

The ambitious project is now in the design phase, with regular workshops already taking place between Disney and Miral‘s development teams, Al Zaabi said.

Except it isn't more difficult to mine than uranium and is easier to transform it into u233.... Sure it can make some of the people processing it glow in the dark, but since when did the Iranians ever appear to be that concerned with the health or well being of their own people. You would think being able to cram a nuke into a small suitcase would be far more useful than having to use a multi ton bomb heavier than a car.

Idk how reliable this is, but I think it's worth mentioning that if this is true, Disneyland Abu Dhabi will cost around $10 billion dollars to build and open by 2030

It’s a ton of money but should at least see a good return on investment, I was recently watching a YouTube documentary on many of the multi billion dollar projects in the Middle East recently (the palm islands, the world islands, the Line, Neom, Dubailand, etc) and compared to those this looks like a slam dunk.

I think I'm going to have to delay my UAE adventure to 2030 then. Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, - maybe another one like Motiongate or IMG Worlds in Dubai; also combined with a desert safari, popular sites. AND be visiting this very interesting new Disney Park!

10 billion isn’t really that astronomical by Disney parks standards. Shanghai cost 6 billion and construction cost inflation has been whack in the last 10 years.

Shanghai for all its pomp and circumstance purely by ride count and features is actually relatively underbuilt at inception (not to HK’s level but it’s still far behind the 4 original magic kingdoms). It remains to be seen if abu dhabi launches like Shanghai or launches like Paris (in terms of launch day lineup) but either way 10 billion doesn’t seem that outrageous

I guess it also depends on what the ten billion is for. Will Abu Dhabi be a full resort with a downtown and hotels or will it just be a park using the rest of yas island as the resort components?

I’m assuming they will build it roughly like Shanghai. The park is the main draw but there is a downtown Disney of sorts and some hotels but the majority will be absorbed by the wider yas island, I strongly doubt it’ll be an insular resort in the vein of WDW, Paris or Tokyo

The miral group is going to want Disney to draw people to yas island, not just create an insular Disney bubble within the wider resort sorta like what WDW does with the wider Orlando theme park zone.

I think you’re right - maybe a grand hotel and waterfront shopping area, perhaps with an Arabian theme? Maybe we will finally get the Persian hotel:-)

It will be really interesting to see how Disney integrates into an existing resort area rather than being their own thing. It will be interesting to see if the resort is designed for multiple parks and expansion or if its going to be the weenie for the wider island resort

yas island is huge, I’m assuming at minimum it will be built with a similar master plan as HK, room for a full magic kingdom and one more fully built out park. I doubt it’ll will have the space of Shanghai or Paris though
