I’m at DCA today and I noticed the photopass CMs got new cameras! Instead of Nikon they’re now taking pictures with Sony A7IVs with FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS lenses! I heard DL will get upgraded too but until then they’re still taking pictures with the Nikon Cameras

I've heard about upgraded cameras coming out, but I'm not a huge photography buff so what's the difference? The pictures I've gotten over the years look great and I imagine Disney won't want to up the file sizes hosted on Photopass so will the guests see higher resolution photos or some other positive change? Or is it more of a usability and convenience factor for the Photopass CMs?

This article below better explains why Disney made the change from Nikon to Sony but essentially the partnership ended between Nikon and Disney a few years ago and phased out Nikon branding and have gotten around to switching cameras

Technical wise, the Sony A7IV is a full frame camera while the Nikons they've used since 2013 including the last Nikon model they're phasing out have whats known as a crop sensor (APS-C). The site below gives a detailed comparison to the cameras involved in the switch.
