New Transportation Option to/from MCO for Deluxe Resort Guests

Uber XL will average $50-$65 for exactly the same.
When we fly we are usually 10, so uber generally doesn’t work. From everything I have priced, if you can fit into one, uber seems like the best option, which is likely the reason you wouldn’t ever see ME back (huge asterisk if they can get bag handling back) bus service just can’t compete with a single car, direct point to point service

If they include door to door baggage handling then maybe but this is aimed squarely at Bob's preferred guest and Josh's target demo (I am neither) seems way too much to me
I mean, if they included door to door baggage handling (like DME used to have), then that might change my opinion of it. Not having to check your luggage at MCO is a huge time savings.

It's all preference I guess, but I'd prefer to rent a car (van) and go wherever I want whenever I want, even at a higher cost. No need to schedule anything or coordinate with anyone or request anything. The attraction here is to have someone lift your bags for you and appear posh? Sorry but I too am not the target for this one.

Why do people stay on site? Why pay the extra instead of just getting a functional experience at a third party motel? It’s cheaper and does the job after all.

That would be absolutely amazing. I miss the resort check in of luggage so much. You could go have a ton of fun before you leave and not have to worry about a thing. And yes, the check in of luggage is a disaster at MCO.

Uber generally isn’t an option for people that need multiple car seats.

Yeah, generally can find something with 1 - but often they don't know how to install them, etc

Until fairly recently we needed 2 (at least) boosters (my kids are on the shorter side) so we used a car service (Gear fusion, etc) and they would always have 2 no issue.

Now that they are older we can get away with just Lyft/U er but definitely scenarios where that won't work for families

Definitely different mind sets. I think a lot people don't want to drive when on vacation, don't want the hassle of dealing with the roads, etc. Just feels more like "vacation mode" and truly "in the bubble" when don't have to drive

Others welcome the freedom especially if open to/wanting to visit places off property

Because I value my time and don’t want to commute 45-75 min (depending on traffic) each way to go to a theme park.
That’s a good reason! Just pointing out there are lots of reasons why someone would choose to pay for a Minnie van when other options exist that are beyond making yourself appear “posh”

I think if you look at this as "Uber with polkadots" then this likely doesn't make sense and seems crazy expensive/just for people spending a lot

But if you look at is a "a private car service, that extends the bubble and can bring a larger family and can provide multiple car seats, etc" then it makes a lot more sense / more realistic.

Still comes at a premium but more of the standard Disney markup vs 3-4x the cost

Except it is 3-4x the market cost. You can rent that same traverse yourself for the entire week for that price.

you can get a private car that will take 7-8 people for $65?

there absolutely are cheaper options if looking for barebones, or only for 2-4 people ... so if that is your comparison point then, yes, it is 3-4x the cost ... why the entire point of my post was it depends what you are comparing it to

People in this thread have mentioned getting uber X for that so yes.

We stay onsite because we don’t have to worry about transportation. We stay onsite at DVC and deluxe properties for all of the good options that are walkable. We stay onsite so that we can get up early and go for runs around property. We stay onsite to be able to walk to the parks. We stay onsite to watch fireworks from our balcony. We specifically stay at Riviera because of the quiet pool (best on property) and access to the Skyliner. We stayed at the new Poly Tower recently to be able to have coffee every morning with this viewtower.

I don’t want a functional or utilitarian experience at WDW. We stayed off property or very first trip at a house larger than our own. We won’t ever do that again and have per much stayed on property ever since. For us, it is a better experience and we are willing to pay for it because staying Deluxe level on property is affordable for us.

As an analogy, one could argue that you should never buy a new car. Only purchase cars used and under $20000 because functionally it gets you where you need to go. I could add to that list above of reasons why we stay on property. It might seem silly to some, but these reasons are our own personal reasons. If others don’t agree that is fine too. We are all individuals.
