I would like to wish a Happy 70th Birthday to Disneyland, Walt Disney's original Magic Kingdom! In celebration of this event, I will post a video of Disneyland's Grand Opening in 1955:

As well as the 1956 film featurette People and Places, Disneyland USA (1956):

10th Anniversary has always been my favorite special. Walt’s tour through Imagineering, during which he showcases and (somewhat awkwardly) chats about upcoming projects with Mary Blair, John Hench, Blaine Gibson, Rolly, Marc, Claude… it kind of epitomizes everything I love about Disneyland.

Let’s also give prayers and thanks to Walt Disney for creating this beautiful theme park

Was watching the shorts on Disney+ for 70th which was featuring the rides. I’m might be wrong but seems some of the rides are a little better at Disneyland vs wdw. Pirates and haunted house for example

That is correct. Pirates, Indy (compared to Dinosaur,) Space, BTMRR are all considered better at DL compared to MK by a large majority of the fan base. Haunted Mansion is more mixed, the MK version is longer (no library, consveratory, or Escher room and the portrait gallery is walked through at DL) but the facade, Hitchikers, Hatbox Ghost location and now the bride are better at DL. That doesn’t even touch the HMH beehive.

If you have never gone, you should consider a trip. DL is the only park Walt actually visited, it feels different it’s kind of hard to explain but once you go you’ll know. DL was built by a man, MK (and every other Disney Park) was built by a corporation.

As far as size goes, think of DLR as what Universal Orlando was like prior to Epic, 2 parks, walking distance a part, with a small shopping district and 3 hotels. It’s a much smaller place than WDW which is good in some aspects and bad in others. Personally, I still favor WDW over DLR but my favorite Disney Park is DL. I visit both frequently, by rotating APs (along with Universal Orlando.)
