MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Well… nothing in the concept art tells us anything about the area around haunted mansion and how it will change.

I’m cautiously optimistic that the designers of this project are going to understand that they are reshaping a major part of the Magic Kingdom and affecting 3 e tickets with this project.

3 currently running E ticket attracts, plus 2 others... A total of 5 attractions overall will be impacted...(Well 2 of them have just been removed) so it will now be about trying to cobble a storry and sense of placemaking with the remaining pieces.... The Haunted Mansion becomes the abandoned house out by the go-kart track, 1880s Big Thunder Mountain sandwiched between 1920s New Orleans and a current day Go Cart track in a anthropomorphic State park... I guess they could ease the chaos by making everything just past Liberty Square all oart of a New Orleand Riverbend... Country Bears could be Cajun to match the Louisiana setting.... Doesn't really explain the abrupt shift to Monument Valley and further into absolute cartoonland...

That’s not concept art - that’s an artistic illustration. Nothing about that art is to scale - and that art does not tell us anything about the mansion.

I also noted that the art does not include the train or train station which is a bit concerning since both were previously part of Frontierland.

We have NO IDEA what we are going to get until the area is open for previews in 3 to 5 years.

All concept drawings/illustrations aside, we do not know what the end product will be after all the scope cuts are made.

Concept art vs artistic illustration... come on you have to agree that's splitting hairs.

Also 100% agree we can't take it as gospel (things can be missing things can be added), but it's the closest thing we have right now as to what Disney is planning and in what orientation.

So we have 3 options:
1) Ignore it and assume the worst
2) Ignore it and assume the best
3) Realize it is the best we have and try to infer what that means.

Good chance there will be woods around the perimeter of Piston Peak and they will use those trees as part of the queue in HM as well as the pathway towards villains where the woods gets spookier or darker as you get closer to villains land.

Nobody said it would be part of Piston Peak - Piston Peaks entire design will change the design of a huge part of the park and specifically 3 existing E-tickets.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing - since the loss of the riverboat is now all too real, I have to be optimistic that the design will enhance all 3 e-tickets that already exist.

The cartoonish illustration is actually a lot more clear and shows us a lot more of what they plan to do - should they do it.
It also shows a waterway all the way and slightly past the (former) river boat boarding station, whereas in the earlier concept art that is depicted as a "dirt" path with the ride vehicles on it.

This image does not show the HM Queue at all... so by the time that is added in and intrudes on the new path, HM will look like it is slightly separated by some trees and a little rockwork with the go-kart race just on the other side...

i disagree - I think it takes lots of liberties to exaggerate details they want you to notice and take everything out of scale and realistic placements.

But the original released art could be so far from the truth of what we are getting it doesn’t matter haha.

My theory - and would love to hear from insiders if I’m anywhere close or really far off -

The plan for Cars and Villians is far from set - and could even be drastically changed.

It made sense to make this decision while big thunder was down - and they knew that any future expansion would benefit from leveling the river so the last minute cars announcement was made as an excuse to start the plans into motion.

There is simply no way that Cars is “far from set”. That does not mean that things can’t change even after work gets underway, but they are certainly very far down the development pipeline.

What are you basing that on? They could easily spend another year doing demoliton and land prep before work actually starts on the land.
