To put effort into creating a caricature of a classic toon in Cars form leads me to believe "Autobahn" will be featured prominently in the land. Not just on posters but possibly "in person". Could a show featuring Ranger Autobahn using the same talking car tech of Lightning McQueen Race Academy be a possibility? What would such an attraction even look like?

Umm, no. Disney paused all construction everywhere. Universal did not. Velocicoaster managed to open in June of 2021, construction started in 2019. Tron opened in 2023. Construction on Tron started in 2018.
Universal paused and cut Epic Universe. They killed a number of other attractions. Velocicoaster continued because there was no good way to pause it. Universal Creative was absolutely decimated by layoffs in a way that is and will continue to hurt them going forward.

Just because one project wasn't paused shouldn't give the impression that Uni kept all other projects going -- they didn't. EU was paused for 8 months.

TRON's pause went beyond the general COVID stoppage. Disney had other reasons to delay it's opening known only to them. TRON's pause doesn't represent WDW's general pause just like Velocicoaster doesn't represent Uni's general pause.

Bringing this back around to Piston Peak... doesn't seem to be any pausing here. Disney has 4 (or 4 1/2) years to complete it as per last year's D23. Disney built all of Pandora in 3 1/2 years.

Also, right now, TWDC has more free cash than it has had in the previous six year. All these D23 projects are all happening around the world at the same time because TWDC can easily afford it now... unless global economy radically changes things.

I always assumed that they'd just put an animatronic of this guy in the queue.

Side note, I just realized what this guy reminds me of! Remember when they did those pins with Mickey, Minnie, Donald etc. as Cars characters?

Maybe they should put THEM in the attraction, too.

Side note: There are unverified rumors that the haunted mansion graveyard will be destroyed for the walking path.
to be fair I don’t see a version of all this where the entire frontage of HM doesn’t get redone. It would make no sense to keep the queue as-is and have it basically be a barrier against the new path that’ll go up and over to BTMR. Cautiously excited to see if they can make something cool out of the opportunity

I will just be glad to be rid of the travesty that is PLQ.

Wonderful!
I agree... That is the thing I dislike at the HM... It ruins the tone.... and that huge covered wall of people is terrible... When they widen and level the area they should create a queue like Disneyland {aris winding through ruined formal gardens... and like Tower Of Terror, some fog effects and haunting music.... It should be an usettling Act 1 for the overall attraction...

According to BlogMickey (sources), overnight the Liberty Belle has been moved from the canal behind BTMR to the service marina.

There's no way they don't completely dismantle it. I refuse to believe nuDis would ever spend a single penny keeping this alive in any way or form. I would assume it's getting moved to it's final resting spot before it's scrapped.

The HM is a tricky aspect because without the river, the orientation of the mansion is unhelpful. Ideally, it should be rotated to face the south so it's a better readable "weanie" during the walk from Liberty Square proper -- the land it belongs to (despite the 18th/19th century time-period incongruity). It's always been a side-glance for spectators, excusable due to its fantastic placement along the "Hudson River" bend (i.e., most appreciable from the now-gone Liberty Belle).

It's obvious the queue needs to be re-located to the north, past the grave yard. It can't be allowed to clog up the new walkways to BTM and Villains Land. Hopefully they fit enough (shaded) queue back there that they can remove the canopy from the front and refashion the front yard as more of a thematic/anticipatory walkway tucked between the house and a berm of trees blocking the sights and sounds of Cars. Ideally, as this walkway passes in parallel with the mansion facade (roughly where the canopy is now), they put a 90-degree right-turn moment directly in front of the house so guests turn to confront the ominous mansion, before turning left to the north to enter the queue.

This "about face" moment would turn lemons into lemonade. While the mansion ideally would be turned to face the long approach from Liberty Square, that's not possible. Instead, by showcasing the mansion's facade in a dramatic close-up reveal, it would sell the placement as intentional, creating dramatic impact right as you enter the queue.

it will be interesting to see how the mansion looks it will be in the middle of a pathway split now. To the right is fantasyland and to the left is a path to big thunder and Villians.

To the right is the HM shop and the brick facade for Colonial Lobster. No real view of Fantasyland.

To the left will be Villains Land, which seems appropriate next to HM.

What might cause thematic dissonance is Piston Peak facing it. We'll see if it's better or worse than a Mississippi Riverboat and Mississippi Riverboat Dock somehow in Colonial Liberty Square.
