Are we even sure they're real replies?

I got a very nice email from George Kalogridis when he was president of WDW so there is some precedent for that position replying to guests even if it’s only a random assortment of emails to which they respond. I know Kalogridis had his sore sports with super fans but at least he somewhat understood what Disney was and could still be having been an opening day employee. Also I loved the fact that he started as a bus boy at the Contemporary and worked his way up so he should have understood the average CM.

If Jeff really did respond angrily and unprofessionally in an email because people were upset about RoA that is frankly embarrassing for the company when they “pride” themselves on show and the guest experience. I would like to see the actual responses before passing judgement.

George is a far different man than Jeff... Higher standards (for himself and fellow CMs, never mind the parks operationally), pushed for better development/expansion at every park he headed, certainly much more respected by CMs (even today), and would never, ever, speak to a guest like Jeff would (if that is a real email). George will be named a Disney Legend when he retires, Jeff will not.

In the Eisner days if an exec sent that kind of communication to a guest, they'd be blackballed from working for all 3 major chains. Now? That makes you promotion material.

I thought George had already retired. I know they gave him a window on WDW MSUSA.

EDIT - nevermind I see where he is now in a strategic role with DPEP. Can’t we get rid of Jeff and bring George back?

Far as I know, he's mostly got the role because he didn't want to retire officially, but Bob wanted someone more loyal in operational roles. The window is very rare for a particular reason. I can't recall a major exec getting one while not being retired - the rule while Marty (who generally approved or spearheaded most windows while he was still with Disney) was alive, required being fully retired from the company. Even from the board (this is why Card Walker only got his in 1999). That was clearly not the case here, and I'm really not sure why...

So you’re saying the post is a payoff? He’s still listed as employed in whatever that position he took in DPEP is. But I can see that and the window being a “go away quietly” from Iger to minimize any waves made.
Listed where? He no longer is actively employed by TWDC.

A fascinating book that really dives into Card Walker’s influence over the company after Walt’s death, the split between the Walt and Roy sides, and how Eisner came to be CEO is Storming the Magic Kingdom - very much like a prequel to Disney War but might even be better.

Fun fact is Frank Wells was in the running to be CEO years before they even considered Eisner. I also didn’t realize how much Roy Disney’s family despised Card Walker and Donn Tatum by the end of it all. Of course Walt also really screwed Roy’s family over in their minds because of the Retlaw Enterprises royalties.

Amazing how people have been injured and with no evidence people just jump to blaming and attacking them.
Sadly that is the nature of the beast for many fan sites in general, not just Disney fan sites.
There are those fans who take their fandom to the extreme, and look at the object of their fandom as more of a deity to be worshiped rather than a fun hobby to enjoy.
In their view, anyone or anything who dares challenge the "perfection" of their deity is considered evil or wrong.

Now that Disney has made peace with DeSantis, things are back to Disney being able to sit on stories like this again.

Sounded pretty gnarly.. probably hurt by the crowd density on the boat. Sounded like a lot more than simply sprained ankles and wrists..
