DHS Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Now, now, try to say something nice about Toy Story Land!

Seriously though DHS is in desperate need of kiddie rides. If the only attractions I can take my kids on with no height requirement are Runaway Railway and Toy Story Mania then that’s a huge problem.
Exactly! My kids are 4, 3, and baby, and unfortunately they are short like me. Weren't even tall enough for Alien Swirling Saucers last time... I'm seriously hoping they add at least one more ride with no height requirement some day. But by the time that would even open my kids would probably be in middle school and it wouldn't matter.

are we talking about the same berm? I thought construction was in blue, while my proposed expansion is in pink.

There is another berm in green as well...

Green isn’t being touched, pink is part of the blue construction.

Here’s a look at construction walls recently added just outside of the pink-circled area:

I hope this doesn't mess up the transition space between SWGE and TSL. The fact that you can't really see either area from the other is a really important part of their immersion - especially SWGE's. Being able to see bright, colorful toys from Batuu would be pretty detrimental.
I always felt this was a miss though….. with so much space and so much money - there was room for a really cool transition that didn’t actually happen. :-/

I think he does.

I do think the family perspective does get pretty dismissed around here regularly. TSL was built for families. I know TSL isn’t my first stop when I’m flying solo and I bet the child-less people around here feel the same way. But that’s in a vacuum.

I’ve had people tell me that kids opinions don’t matter.
It may have been designed for kids, but little kids can only ride TSM - which existed before Toy Story Land was thought of. Both new rides have a minimum height requirement. That’s just cruel given the theme.

Which is an issue for both monsters and cars expansions in other parks. It’s also an issue for the only attraction themed to Tiana.

I mean mileage may vary here, but my niece rode Swirling Saucers at 20 months old, and she was average height for her age at that time. My 3.5 year old rode Slinky Dog and he is slightly above average height (67th percentile). I guess they could have put in no height requirement rides for babies/toddlers, but lets not act like the vast majority of kids can't ride these rides. My boys are 6 and 4 now and can ride everything in the park except Rock N Roller Coaster.

Having done Epic recently, Toy Story Land misses the interactive elements that are a kid pleaser in Nintendo World. I'd take each of the Toy Story Land rides over their epic counterparts though. That's not to say I think these rides are great by any means, but I preferred them to the Epic rides that are more or less the same (coaster, simulator/shooting game, dark ride).

I think Isle of Berk does all of these things better.
It has kinetic energy and entertainment too.

Agree with that...loved Berk as a land (was my favorite one)...Hiccups is definitely better than Slinky by a lot in my opinion...would take the other 2 Toy Story Rides over the ones in Berk. Show was meh for me, but at least it has one. Loved the spacing of the land, and the character interactions/walking around as well as the different dragon elements within the land.

little rides like they used in the Bugs Life area at DCA were meant for toddlers... Heimlich's Chew Chew train etc... and they just did one for Fantasy Springs which would have been cute in Toy Story land as well... a little car ride that would not take much space....
