Its Walled Disney World again!

We just came out of about 5 years of walls in EPCOT resulting in the ugly planter and broken ground lights!

This will be at least 3 years of walls and I hope this will not result in a disappointment.

It could be doubly bad like in EPCOT; many years of walls AND disappointment once the walls are down.

My faith was broken by what has happened in EPCOT.
I think a lot of us feel that way... I am not understanding how they are going to complete this mammoth demolition, then a complete thematic rebuild including mountains etc in less time than it took for them to knock down a building and replace the already completely level area with a planter and some trees... oh and a Flex Spce....

I was trying to be optimistic saying 3 years. I could see it taking closer to 5 years.

Time to complete whatever they are trying to do here aside, I also worry it will turn out to be a disappointment.

I guess I have ERDS… EPCOT Renovation Derangement Syndrome 😉

I think at some point we need to accept that World Celebration as an outlier that was impacted by a worldwide pandemic and the world recovering from it. World Celebration was the last project finished that was impacted by the pandemic and unless something else unexpected happens on that scale, it's not going to longer than the 3-4 years it took to build Galaxy's Edge

Excellent spin on this blaming on what happened in EPCOT on the pandemic. I knew Disney would get a lot of milage out of the pandemic excuse!

Who knows, maybe you are right? I sincerely hope so, but as I have said many times, my faith is lost.

What pandemic? Disney should have seen that coming and used its magic to avoid the pandemic repercussions we're still dealing with in my city and nearly everywhere else in the world.

Must be the management

Or just ask Universal how they did it ;)
Why, we already know.

The pandemic pushed the opening of EU back from 2023 to 2025 and during that time, according to reports, plans were redone/shuffled for more than one area of the park including cutting attractions and venues. So, it looks like they did roughly the same thing Disney and nearly every other company on the planet did during that time. They even significantly cut entertainment at their new park right before it opened, but sure, let's ask the guys pulling the EXACT same stunts we all complain about at WDW.

From my point of view (and only my point of view)

Scorecard:
Disney: Ugly planter and broken ground lighting in EPCOT.
Universal: EPIC Universe.

You're not wrong at all that a new park > EPCOT redo, and Disney should get NO leeway with the sorry state of that area of the park, but this notion that Comcast isn't facing the same issues and pulling the exact same type of large corporate stunts just seems off.

No
Ya know…. It is interesting there is no train station in that art.
The proportions are also widely off and there are many artist choices made here so this is not fully accurate to what we're getting at all. Doesn't mean the train station is going anywhere. Especially when the WDWRR is still operating in shuttle mode. They're not going to keep it in shuttle mode forever.

Oh yeah - that is very much an “artistic illustration” - but still. It’s worth noting.
