Universal's food is still pretty bad

Horrendous is really overblown, when was your last visit? Are you talking about Epic, or just USF?
I can’t really speak to Epic(have not been) or Universal (currently( last visit was 2019)the food I had in both parks was terrible…, the only meal that was just ok was Mythos…. But was overrated…, definitely not the best theme park restaurant as advertised… I did have a few good meals at Citywalk though…Granted I know Disney like the back of my hand having grown up going there. And I know where to eat and where to avoid… perhaps I just chooses poorly

Both resorts have a collection of “must dos” and “must avoid” when it’s comes to quick service locations.

The difference is that WDW has a bit more “must dos” than UOR, but UOR is slowly going through their parks and improving on them.

USF - Minions
IOA - Circus McGurkus and Thunder Falls
Epic - still giving it time, but Toadstool seems to be the only one to avoid.

I'd maybe add certain items in other locations as well at Epic. The blood orange sandwich at DAS Steakhouse was not good (incredibly dried out chicken) flavor profile was a miss for most of us, but that's obviously more subjective. Everything else our group had there was solid from a Theme park point of view though, but that sandwich on it's own, was bad for us.

Food at Epic overall was a big stepup we thought.

When I first had that sandwich I thought it would be more like panda express orange chicken flavor and was severely disappointed. Other items I've had from Das Stakehaus have been pretty good though, the chicken skewer thing was excellent.

I wouldn't even avoid toadstool tbh, it does get way more crowded than the other restaurants but I've had some pretty good stuff there such as the Chef Toad Herb Chicken Special. Just don't do the burgers, they are just alright, if you want a good burger go to Meteor Astropub.

Toadstool is not the worst restaurant, it's just the least exciting of all of Epic Universe's offerings. If you end up eating there, it' no problem but it's annoying to know when other better options are available lol

Just curious why you listed Minions cafe as the worst?
I only ate there once, and that was enough for me. We waited a long, long time (over 30 minutes) for our food. When it finally came it was stone cold. We were so tired and hungry that we ate it anyway, vowing never to come back again. I hope it was not the norm for Minions, so I'm wondering why you listed it?

Had Minions Cafe myself early June for first time; super easy, pretty fast. Did chips/guac, some cheesey meat sammie thing, and my partner who is gluten/dairy free had a great meal personally made for her. So for me, Minions Cafe is 1 for 1, batting 1000%!

I hope it's not one of those places that you either get horrible food and service, or great food and service, depending when you go and how crowded it is. I always go to the parks at "slower" times, so it wasn't really terribly busy. We were put in a huge room overlooking the sidewalks with only one other couple. They were there for a long time, too, it seems. We thought they were just resting, but they did eventually get their food a lot earlier than we did. There were several tables that were not even cleared in that area. I don't know if it was a staffing problem or what, but we won't be back. I am glad that you had a good experience:)

Me? I didn't say anything about Minion Cafe, I actually love Minion Cafe and eat there more than any other restaurant at UOR. The grilled cheese on the kids menu is one of the best bang for your buck items at Universal.

So what are the current must dos at UOR? Including city walk, hotels and VB. I feel out of the loop on its food scene.

Non-American non-picky adult.

I think the food at Minion Cafe is surprisingly solid but like the other pseudo-table service restaurants (Toadstool Cafe and all the other Epic QSRs), it’s a gamble as to whether or not your food will be hot. That was never an issue I had with Universal’s traditional QSRs.

I cannot comment on Epic yet, but here is my list for the other two parks.

USF: Minion Cafe, Swamp Snacks, Central Park Crepes, Leaky Cauldron, TODAY Cafe

IOA: Croissant Moon Bakery for coffee/breakfast, Desert Kebab House, Green Eggs and Ham, Hog's Head for a drink obviously, Mythos, Three Broomsticks, Burger Digs, Circus McGurkus but only for the Grinch character breakfast over the holidays.

I've only been given cold food at Epic once, at Das Stakehaus, I let them know and they gave me a new freshly made one that was hot.
