They better hope the projections are wrong if they want a reboot/winner with this
It appears to be tracking about the same as Superman, with slightly just a bit better budget. So I think both will have the same chance to pull through, maybe not $1B, but hopefully better than break even for both. So it'll be interesting to watch over the next several weeks with not much on the horizon in terms of major releases until October.

Now projecting 190-210 opening weekend. Getting pretty good reception.

My FF fandom has some hope for this one!

Just to clarify, this is global

The previous discussion about opening to $100-$110 million was domestic only.

When it's days away from release it's best to wait and see how it all shakes out. For what it's worth, many BOT analysts think the trades are being overly cautious about OW projections. We'll find out soon enough.
Al the trades coalescing around the $100-$110 domestic figure feels like it’s a way Disney is preemptively lowering expectations so the spin is it exceeded projections rather than underperformed them (again). We’ll see in a few days!

These things have been pretty accurate…but not guaranteed so you’re right there

Since the cesspool thread is hard to navigate…I’ll just give my OPINION of the current BO and my guesses and leave it here to play:

I thought Superman would take in like $700-$800 (depending on quality) and FF $600-$700 at the beginning of the year…

But based on the weakness - include stitch in a strange angle - and MCU so far this year…I would have said maybe $650 for Supe and $550 for FF a month ago.

Gonna be tough based on receipts and tracking for either of them to get there.

And I think Superman was a good effort…so that’s not a great sign here.

Food for thought here

…the thought has occurred

Like they are expecting an underwhelm…so you lean on those that listen (the ones that write glowing article about JJ Abrams and Kathy Kennedy 🙄) and get the number down…

It’s actually smart…then if it’s received well and they post a $120…the narrative is an “upwell” of support and legs…which follows the Superman track.

It would be smart - hypothetically

Ahh how expected from you. And yes, let’s ban all movie critics because they are in for the win.

Look emoji time 🤪😜🥸
Try to use words…eyes…and ears…better

This nitwit kid…trying to make some “science” out of trailer views on TikTok…was the one who said reviews should be limited to just the Hollywood backbone outlets still left…

Comprende, amigo?

Technically it was about where production budgets and fiscal data were being sourced from. It wasn’t said about only accepting 5 critic reviews.

I’m personally a big fan of aggregating reviews, as it somewhat reduces the fringes. Or at the very least following specific reviewers who I know generally align with my tastes as that’s mostly informative for me specifically. But everyone likely has a different critic that aligns more with them than others.

The hilarity here is the numbers are looking very, very similar to Superman. If they are, I will happily call it as such and look forward to some people contorting themselves on both sides of the MCU / DCU debate.

My point was it was a cherry pick and I never brought the basket.

Me and the clown prince go way back…it’s always a random shot out of nowhere and in this case was 100% backwards. I always encourage people to use the ignore button if I take the edge off their daily dust fix 😎

It’s in the ballpark…for sure

The question is: is that good for the big mid summer comic tentpoles?

I’m sure nobody will have an opinion there 🤪

I think there's higher expectations for Fantastic 4 because of the MCU's overall track record, vs the past 40 years of Superman movies which have been varying degrees of disappointments.

Ironically, in the same time frame, Superman and his adjacent characters have been a reliable staple of TV.

I had a front row seat, but it was worth it!
