Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Yes, yes, I know we just got back. We went in the middle of December, then again for Christmas, then again in the middle of January, and now - our third month in a row…

When: Feb 2-4
Where: All-Star Music, and All-Star Music (you’ll see.)
Who:

And Brian

Wait, wait - that’s not right. Pretty close, but not right. Let’s try again.

OK but those were reject “blooper” pics from our last TR. Here’s one where we’re overdressed:

That’ll do.

And…Mickey.

We arrive at the WL on the 8th September but I bet we just miss you. It would have been lovely to have met you both. We really enjoy your reports.
The 8th is our real anniversary - 18 years. We often do two short trips. In this case, we leave on the 3rd, and haven’t planned the 8th yet. We may do Key Largo, just stay home and go to dinner, or who knows?! 🏰

I hear the guy next to me say, cautiously, “You know what, I’m gonna do it.” And he said something to Ray.

I asked him, “Did you just order a $300 pour?”

He said yes. I said God bless him, and fist bumped. I said I enjoy bourbon, but the highest I go is Blanton’s, but they never have it.

Then he pointed out to me, next to the Jack Daniel’s on the wall - a bottle with a horsey on top. They did have it! I finished my pig swill and ordered a glass, neat.

This is the $300 pour, called Pappy’s, but technically Pappy Van Winkle. He’s a big bourbon enthusiast, and said it’s very hard to find. He thoroughly enjoyed it, no regrets.

And this is my horsey top stuff. $27 and I was just as buzzed as he was lol.

But seriously, good for him! I’m sure it was smooth and fabulous.
I live in Kentucky. Google the controversy over the “stolen” Pappy Van Winkle. It was a big deal at the time.

Looks like you had a great time and that room upgrade was such a nice surprise!!! We enjoy the California Grill most trips and do book the early times so we can get a window seat but we're thinking next trip we might sit at the bar and order the wontons since you can't get that at the tables anymore! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us and have fun on you upcoming trips!

Whoops!

I tried to add some vacation creep by booking the Saturday night before my birthday trip, and the cheapest hotel was All Star Sports at $217! As Daryl Hall & John Oates artfully expressed: "I can't go for that (no can do.)"

When I have a moment, I'll check nearby offsite rooms. Turns out, this year my bday falls squarely in the middle of Labor Day weekend. (It doesn't always.)

That free water park day on Sunday might be a little crowded! Although I know the days following Labor Day are often slow. (We go home that Wednesday unless I flip out and stay longer. Or never come home.)

Despite having a lot more lead time than usual, I haven't booked a single thing! No dinners, no park reservations, nothing.

I'd like to get into the new Pirate themed bar in MK. I believe ADR's become available 8/14. I'll probably forget LOL. Eh, things tend to work out.

We won't exactly be flush with points on this trip (but that won't stop us LOL.) Not sure yet, but considering a Topolino's bday breakfast (my bday is Sunday, which = no park tix except the free water park.) Considering Geo-82 for fireworks one night, but I honestly don't think it's a great deal. All these fireworks events that leave you with a partial view seem kind of meh to me.

I'd better start planning stuff! (And working out, have to take that bday pic and not look 54!) Off to the gym...again...

Don’t waste your money on the Geo-82 fireworks upcharge. Go to La Hacienda or Spice Road Table if you want to sit, eat and drink while watching Luminous. Those fireworks views are amazing! (Pretty sure you’ve done Rose and Crown, if you remember it.:hilarious:)

Pretty sure I've done La Hacienda - you met me there! :D

Not a favorite. If I do something fireworks, I'd really like the complete experience - whether castle projections, water projections, etc.

Which means I'll probably skip them, per usual! Or find an open air rollercoaster. ;)

You did and I met you. But you weren’t seated at a window table. Makes all the difference in the world. You can see the water projections and the fireworks. Woody and I saw Illuminations (with Epcot’s 40th anniversary tag) which was incredible, and even though I despised Harmonious the views from our window seat made it enjoyable!

Have you looked into renting dvc for the one night? You may finding something for the cost of the one night at all stars sports 🤷🏻‍♀️.

As Cindy Lauper says…
That's all they really want
Some fun

If you come, I’ll book it. 😀
