MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The amount of water present gives me hope. It won't justify destroying the rivers, but I'm hoping there's plenty of paths and winding roads similar to the ones you could find on the island. Plenty of places to get lost.

Still wild to me that they knew the backlash they would face and still released that original concept art that didn’t showcase water in the slightest.

It’s my understanding that there’s barely space for a ride half the length of RSR.

I had hoped they would keep the front portion of the river “open” while work began in the back. Maybe some temporary dams even.

Keep the construction walls out for a few more months.

It just can’t be emphasized how the former Rivers will be a VERY prominent eyesore and source of ill will for years to come.

They probably should have announced an interesting replacement to offset some of the downside.

Geeze, those laydown/staging yards are MASSIVE! the one along the canal (if my Google Maps measurements are correct) is about 18 acres and stretches down to the Adventure Land expansion plot (on the opposite side of the canal of course). The smaller, triangular-ish one is an additional 13 acres. And neither are where Cars or Villains will go (supposedly). Can anyone explain a construction related reason to clear 31 acres of land that ONLY involves Villains and Cars? Or is there (likely) additional expansion that will happen in these areas after Villains and Cars are done?

Probably related to making the site suitable for development later on. The pile of dirt in the parking lot was put on top of the swampy part and now it gets to be additional parking a few years later.

I know you're kidding but theoretically speaking it'd make more sense in Villains Land but that would be so out of the way. 2nd entrance into Magic Kingdom would be fire, however.

The river has been drained many times without a fish-kill. And the draining is into, I believe, a canal.

Last time they didn’t do a full drain, only a partial, meaning that fish could have escaped to the back of the river. I would assume that this time they are closing the canal which connects this to the SSL and are going to pump it out into the adjacent swamps.

They are re-routing Floridian Way which would open up even more space there.

It’s not possible because we have been assured many times the only reason we had to lose ROA is because the precious expansion pads needs to be saved for future actual expansion.

I’m aware of various types of wildlife inhabiting the RoA and surrounding area, but I never saw any fish or signs that fish were present, other than maybe a heron patrolling the bank looking for minnows. If there were/are fish that got in via the canal from 7 Seas, I don’t think it’s some large population.

If it was a hotel and rear entrance/exit to the park and they did a night time show back there, then yes, that would, in my opinion, be a great use of space.
