Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Yes, yes, I know we just got back. We went in the middle of December, then again for Christmas, then again in the middle of January, and now - our third month in a row…

I just barely spoke with a couple of couples to my right at the bar (but not at all to the folks to my left.) One of the two couples bought a bottle of champagne for the 5 of us. Who am I to say no?

Turns out one of us let it slip they were an imagineer. At a more opportune time, I briefly gave my 2 cents that I thought they (imagineers in general) were doing a fine job, and people with far less (read: zero) experience are far too critical.

At this point, all other Magicians had checked in, so I made my way down for my last visit with the ladies - including, finally, Patti!

That was my last photo from this trip. I took one more ride on the massage chair, said my final goodbyes, and took a Lyft back to ASM, where I’d grab my bags and take another Lyft to the airport to take the train home, arriving about 12:30am.

So, how do ya like that - I finally did it - a last minute, unplanned solo overnight trip that was an absolute blast! So glad I went.

Then, back to celebrating the 15 year anniversary of my stores, and our local Pride festival (which was by far the biggest I’d ever seen.) Just a few hours ago, we found out a man with a Glock 9mm and 2 additional magazines of ammo was arrested after going through the Pride East entrance metal detectors (where Brian and I entered 30 minutes prior) and ignoring both security and the police ordering him to stop.

Next planned trips: WDW 7/14-7/16, NOLA 7/28-8/1, WDW 8/31-9/2. Who knows what else before or after any of those?

Life is an adventure.

Em and I ordered drinks. She, a glass of wine. I, a Citrus Old Fashioned, which I did not know was about to become a whole thing.

Our server brought our drinks and walked away.

Then she came back, and without a word, pulled out a tiny spritzer, and spritzed my cocktail two or three times and continued walking on.

The theme of this trip is…40% off! (How romantic!)

This was yet another unplanned trip until a few weeks ago. A friend who hadn’t been to the World in a long time, and I, were chatting, and I decided to help him find a deal on his room. I was shocked (shocked!) at the low prices I was finding, so I decided to look for myself as well!

On a lark (Siri dictation actually turned that into “Donna Lark.” What the is wrong with Siri? Which of those is the more common phrase, Siri? Siri is a ditz.) On a lark, I started checking deluxe resorts to see if we could cross anything off our bucket list.

I really want to stay at the poly. Have I mentioned that recently?

The poly was not discounted enough for a spur of the moment trip.

Technically, the Contemporary wasn’t, either – but I booked it, anyway! It was cheaper than the poly so, what a bargain(?)

It was 40% off. A nice deal. Given the way things are going, probably the best deal we will see for a long time. I had to grab it.

However, I wasn’t 100% committed. Even being such a deal, it is a splurge for us. I left myself the option to cancel the reservation if I changed my mind or financial circumstances dictated.

Then the dining discounts for annual pass holders were announced for the month of July. 40% off at a few places, including one of our favorites, Tiffins!

I’m digging this 40% offness! I can convince myself I’m not really spending very much and have a great time! In fact, 40% off the dinners could really make up for what we are spending on the resort! But wait – we’d have to eat at those discounted restaurants a significant amount of the time to make that happen.

So, I have already booked every single meal at a 40% off restaurant for the entire trip!

Yes, really. Mind you, this is only two nights plus our arrival night, and we don’t book breakfasts.

Tuesday, the 15th, will be the anniversary of our paper marriage in California.

So, I have already booked every single meal at a 40% off restaurant for the entire trip!

Well, all except one: my last meal on the last day - it’s becoming a tradition - the Cali Grill at the bar at 5pm. I or we have been doing this for the last several trips, and I always enjoy it. But this time, instead of scrambling after dinner to go back to my original hotel and get my bags to go to the airport, I will already be at my original hotel. Ta-da!

But right now, I have to go to the gym - because my dear friend @Tuvalu posted this pic in her trip report:

I’ve been very well behaved since getting home from that last trip, but I have 10 days to kick it into high gear so I can enjoy all those 40% off dinners!

Trip creep…booked All Star Music for this Sunday night before we check into the Contemporary on Monday.

Trip creep is the worst best! Our August resort stay was 3 nights. Then the flights were cheaper a few days before. So added two nights. Then I was hoping to catch a MNSSHP so added three nights on the end. (We missed the party dates by a week). And then DD4 asked which days we would ride Slinky Dog, so added one park day. Our no park 3 night trip turned into more than week with one park day!
