What’s the plan for the existing Muppets building? Move MILF to DHS?
Quote from blog: "whole new theater show". That's the only official thing we have.

Some are speculating that it could also team up as a two for one space and include a M&G area with the size of pre-show or theater. @ᗩLᘿᑕ ֊ᗩζᗩᗰ

Some are speculating it will just be a M&G or worst. @Casper Gutman

Nothing has been said about Laugh Floor. It's not moving to this land per Scott Gustin.

This is tired and simply untrue. You're looking at Covid and screaming that their schedules during it and the recovery are the norm. New lands typically take 2-3 years to complete. A ride has only taken five years because of Covid.
Pandora was first announced in 2011... Ground breaking ceremony in 2014, Opening in 2017..actual construction was about 2 and a half years... Everest was about 3 years... Star Wars Galaxy's Edge was 4 years to opening without it's signature attraction which opened 4 months later...The seating expansion at Toy Story Land quickserve, about the same as building a new land... lol

I’m trying to discern what the point of the ongoing disagreement is about. Is this argument whether or not the new Monsters Inc land will bring in as many people as the Muppets? Or move as much merch?

A suspended coaster themed to the door factory will absolutely pull in people. This concept has been favorably remarked about by the diehards in these forums on and off for years. Anyone that thinks otherwise is unserious. Add to it a Monsters show, two new restaurants and fully themed land and this area will be a magnet for guests.
I don’t get this at all, either. We’ve been begging for this Door Coaster for decades on these boards. They finally announce it and we have buyer’s remorse?

How quick construction happens largely depends on when you start the clock, if you start the clock when a project is announced it’s generally going to be at least 5+ years, if you start the clock when shovels hit the dirt it could be as short as a year.

Personally I count all the time from the announcement to opening, in that situation next to nothing happens at Disney in a couple years, it takes most projects a couple years just to get started, then a couple years of construction after groundbreaking.

Some of that delay Is Disneys fault, some is due to bureaucracy, some is issues out of their control but the end result is 90% of what Disney announces either doesn’t happen or takes a half decade or more to actually reach completion.

Overall popularity does seem like an odd argument, this land is going to be infinitely better than what’s there now, whether Monsters is a higher rated IP compared to Muppets is irrelevant, the ride looks good, the theme looks good, Muppets struggled to fill the theater but people are going to flock to this new land.

I think that this area largely depends on what the show will be. If it’s like an updated 3D muppets show, I think people will be very happy. With that and a coaster, it will be a very nice area that will make people think less about what they lost. If it’s a horrible show that looks cheap, people will complain. They have a theater there already. Just use it properly and you’ll have a winner in my opinion

Two years ago: "WDI is cooked. They cant even build a door coaster"

Now: "how dare they take away a 30 year old movie to replace it with both a new movie and a coaster - they never add anything!"

then - well its not an expansion since theyre only expanding into parking lots.

the cognitive dissonance is something else.

They are not just talking away a 30 year old movie. They are talking away the last work of Jim Henson. I fall into the group of people who are excited for monsters inc. and I would be even more excited if this was replacing literally anything else.

Totally get that viewpoint. You're not crazy, youre just a fan of something thats going away. Some others are crazy

I think the only outrage around this project was the removal of Muppets from the park.... no other reason. I think almost everyone is for adding a Monsters Area, ride and show... just not at the expense of the last work of Jim Henson.... If they had from the beginning announced they were moving MV3D and the current muppet area to the other side of the park and re-theming RNRR with The Electric Mayhem in a newly rethemed Muppet area, I think there would be nothing but positive response....

I could come to terms with Muppets dying if it wasn't for the fact that there is another completely useless section of the park just sitting there begging to be destroyed. If this was an entirely landlocked park and this was the only developable piece of land remaining, sure I could make peace with my god about it. But this was an execution of convenience, in which none of the people in charge of the decision will ever have to be around to reckon with the consequences.

I flew across the country to say goodbye to Muppets, and then walked next door to spend three days at the new theme park built from the ground up. The fact that most of this land will just be re-themed facades speaks volumes as to the ambition for what this will end up being. None of which points to building a worthy land replacement for where Jim Henson's last work stood. This is a quick bandage to boost attendance and only exists to be rethemed to a new IP in a decade when it has outlived its purpose and all the executives have been replaced with a new crop.
