DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I have visited WDW overall 40+ times. I can count on one hand how many times I have visited DHS.
It is sad because mid 90s it was on its way. Tower of Terror and RNR built between 4 years of each other and enough to fill the day. Then it started rapidly chasing something after the odd choices and neglect of the 2000s.

As much as I dislike some of Uni's changes and dearly miss the rides before them, DHS is the only park that has changed more since opening day since Universal Studios Florida out of the major operators.

In regards to the show replacing MV3D, Disney has 2+ years to create something and put in place. Plenty of time in reality. Something of major substance and investment, that's a different story.
I struggle to believe it will be as clever as MV3D since I just don’t think they’re that clever. But, if I’m honest, I loved the first 10 min and last 3 but hated the Waldo/Bean middle. So maybe the full show could be better than MV3D in its entirety?

I feel no sadness towards losing Waldo or Bean. Everybody else I'm sad to lose

I can't say that Bean was intended to, but Waldo was supposed to make you feel that way.

With the whole picture, atmosphere, tone and preshow, I have my doubts. It is a large space to work with.

I have family members that like thrill rides (and Alien Swirling Saucers), so I don't get to avoid it. If not, I would much rather do anything else, including just laying in the resort bed all day.
Only reasons I went to DHS, other than the fact I was with my family, last visit were Great Movie Ride and MuppetVision. Guess I'll half day it for Runway if I ever go back.

What? Frozen is one of the best shows and always different with its fantastic improv. Mickey shorts is a small theater that replaced a show that was 70% pitch black.
I'm probably just biased because I'm not a Frozen fan, but even if I was, we have another Frozen attraction in EPCOT now, we don't need two. And sitting in a theater watching scenes from Frozen played on a big screen is not my idea of a fun theme park attraction - and I'd feel the same way if it was scenes from a movie I actually LIKED.

And you don't have to go to a theme park to watch the Mickey shorts, you can just watch them on YouTube for free. It's a waste of space (not that Sounds Dangerous was any better).
Launch bay is definitely a joke but apparently is planned for replacement
I'll believe it when I see it. And I think it should've been a higher priority than Muppets.
Don't forget Beauty and The Beast, which is now the oldest operating nearly as is(it moved once and Star Tours was rethemed and redone)venue in the park and somehow still going.
That too.
Yep. He was the annoyingness of novelty with no subtance.
Yeah, Waldo going is the only good thing about MuppetVision being replaced.

Agreed. It feels temporary and was designed to be. It outweighed it stay. I also gotta say, I get the meta humor works(funny enough Muppets really started that and that was what they were good at all around) but having the joke where "THEY DIED? The PARENTS DIED?" is overdone, and instead of it being a hero's journey trope that makes Disney relatable, they meta point it out and its an awkward laugh from many, including children who do not have parents, which is more common sadly than one thinks. It is honestly a very large theater for not much spectacle in there going on.

I mentioned it before when the closure was announced, but even with the film being preserved, it doesn't make up for all the cool details the whole Muppet area had. One of the things I loved about Muppet Vision wasn't just the show itself, but the entire building had plenty of details all around it (or at least till they took away a lot of them when Galaxy's Edge came around, like the Piggy billboard, the mural, and the F-X Generator).

Even if they stick Muppet Vision in Sunset Showcase it probably wouldn't have the exterior details the old building has.

(By the way, has this big Muppet Vision directional sign near Mermaid and Animation Courtyard been removed? I have a feeling getting pictures of the other Muppet signs around the park getting removed will start coming)

I most definitely agree with all of this. The careful craft and hyper level of detail made it feel like The Muppets were there and could come around any corner. It had an attitude and charm all on its own directly Henson and Disney at best.

Sadly, I think that sign was gone long ago as anything with Jim Henson on the signage was removed over a decade ago. I could be wrong and if I am I am sad I did not take pictures with that sign or hope someone does.

Yeah as much as I loved MuppetVision, Waldo was very annoying. I appreciate the INSANE amount of time and effort it took to create it (this was covered on a podcast a long time ago about how much time and effort to create and render... CG in the 80's was still so early) but he was just a bit over the top. Then again it helps us root for the Swedish Chef at the end.

It was intentional. Waldo is not likeable by design. Muppet Vision 3D to me was always a great commentary on novelty vs showbusiness. You are there to witness something special, but in reality its just obnoxious. And the few cheap 3D tricks are all that really happens if you think about it. They all dislike Waldo and by the end of it, failed them.
Bunsen: Well, I think that will be just about enough of Waldo, Beaker. You may deactivate him.
and later he invites himself into the fireworks finale with Bean.
Kermit: Gee I guess.

He is an idiot that almost agreed and got Bean to run away without stopping him.

He even almost gets away with pretending to be Mickey as a gimmick, before they make sure he is gone.

Bill Prady and Jim Henson showed genius here.
