Trip Report 2 Weeks, 3 Resorts, 12 People - A (Hopefully) Live Trip Report!

Hello everyone! You may remember me from my spontaneous spring break trip back in March. Well, I'm back again! And this time for much longer... two weeks!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm PUSH! I'm a teacher from Wisconsin. I just completed my 8th year teaching first grade, and I'm ready for a vacation. This school year was by far the toughest of my career, for many different reasons, so I'm ready to be back in the Disney bubble. I've been so busy with the end of the school year, that I didn't even think about starting a TR until today... and we fly out tomorrow morning!

As I type this, I still am unsure what this TR will look like. That really makes you want to keep reading, doesn't it?? 😂 I'm planning on posting live from my trip... I just don't know how much. If I post a lot and go pretty in-depth, I won't post a ton when I get back. However, if I don't post much while I'm down there, I'll do more when I get back. Regardless, I'll post in some capacity. We'll just go with the flow (which is NOT how I treat a Disney trip... I'm such a planner).

Here's a few details to start off... The first week is just my dad and me. We fly out of Madison tomorrow morning, and we should land at MCO early to mid afternoon. The second week, we'll be joined by a whole slew of people, who you can see listed below. The past few years, my dad and I have gone down ahead. We're the biggest Disney nerds, and we like the extended trips, whereas others get tired of it after about a week.

We are staying at 3 resorts, with 10 park days, 1 water park day, and 1 After Hours event. All the other details will come as we go. :)

📅 When: June 7-June 21st
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Who: Me, my parents, my brother, my SIL, my aunt & uncle, my cousin & her husband & their kid (1.5 years old), and my other cousin & her boyfriend
🌏 Where: 2 nights at Pop Century, 5 nights at Coronado Springs in the Gran Destino Tower, 7 nights at Riverside
❓ Why: Why not? 🤷‍♂️

Sit back, keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the thread, and enjoy whatever this trip report becomes!

Today we did Earlt Entry at MK. We rode Peter Pan first. They started letting us ride 10 minutes early. Then we did Little Mermaid, Buzz, and Peoplemover before our Space LL. After Space we went and did standby for Haunted Mansion, then watched Country Bears.

After the Bears we had a LL for Haunted again. Once we got off, we ate lunch at Casey's. Then we headed over to use our Pirates LL, followed by likely our last ride on the Riverboat and visit to Tom Sawyer Island.

We got ice cream and were going to head out, but saw the double decker bus on Main Street, so we followed it and took a ride on it. We've never done that before!

Now we're back in the room to rest. Off to DHS in a couple hours!

We got to DHS around 5:15. We took the Skyliner from Pop... that was so fast! It took 13 minutes from the time we took off from Pop until we stepped off at DHS. Even quicker than driving! I totally get the hype for Skyliner Resorts.

We went right to our LL for Rock n Roll, but there were some issues. While we were waiting, it was announced certain seats were not available, presumably because of Code V. 🤢 Finally, we loaded. But a boy handed a CM something. The CM took it, got on the phone, and then everyone had to evacuated. We think he handed her a washer or bolt or something, and protocol is to have maintenance to an inspection. We think the dad told the CM it came from somewhere else, but she said it didn't matter, and it was protocol.

So we got off, and the CMs at the end seemed very confused. They seemed like they didn’t know what to do, even though the ones unloading us said "go to the exit and the CMs there will take care of you". The guests had to essentially tell them we were supposed to get LLs, and the CM had to go check. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, we then used our LL at Tower, then went to a guest experience CM to see if we could have our replacement LL moved to Epcot in a couple days, since we had everything else booked at DHS. He said yes, and fixed it within seconds. I gave him a cast compliment (my second of the trip)!

We hiked back to Toy Story Land to eat at Woody's Lunchbox, where we've never eaten before. We also skip it because it's outdoors and hot in June, but we toughed it out this time. I had the grilled cheese and potato barrels, with cheese sauce for dipping. It was all very good! I'd recommend it. My dad got the turkey sandwich and liked it, too.

Then we used LLs for Swirling Saucers, Smuggler's Run, and Mickey & Minnie. We had one for Star Tours, too, but we decided to skip it.

We hopped back on the Skyliner and got desserts at the food court. I got a cookies and cream shake, assuming it'd be the same thing I've gotten a Riverside before. Wrong. This one was very bland and had no flavor. I was disappointed.

Now we are in our hotel room, chilling before bed.

Tomorrow we check out of Pop and into Coronado in the Gran Destino Tower. We are also debating whether to go to a water park or not. We had said we would, but I don't think either of us really are dying to. We said we'd like to just see it, so we may go for an hour or two, just to say we've been there. It'll be a game time decision tomorrow morning.

We also might try the Rix Sports Bar at Coronado tomorrow. My dad says he wants to try it. We will see. Outside of switching resorts, there are no plans set in stone tomorrow.

Also, if you followed along with my March trip, I apologize for it not being as neat and organized. I'm doing this one all on my phone, and it's too hard to put pictures in the right place in the report. It's a lot easier to just type out the day's events, then put all the pictures in a separate post.

After we left Pop, we drove to Coronado to check in. While we were waiting for our room, we went to Typhoon Lagoon. We pretty much did the lazy river, walked around, got donuts, and left. My dad isn't a big water slide/ride person. I'm sure I would have done more if I was there with other people, but it was still something we've never done!

We then headed back to Coronado and sat by the pool for a few minutes before getting the text that our room was ready. So we got our luggage and got into our room.

I took a shower to get all the chlorine off, then we headed offside to a CVS to get a couple supplies.

We stopped at Disney Springs on the way back for a little bit. I got anshirt at Ron Jon and will maybe get some shorts there later in the trip.

Now we've just been hanging out at the resort, and we're sitting in the Barcelona Lounge. In a little bit we're going to try Rix Sports Bar.

Rix was surprisingly good! I didn't have high expectations because it's not something you hear about hardly at all. I got the bacon cheeseburger. It wasn't the best burger I ever had, but it was solid and got the job done. I'd put it on par with an Applebee's burger or similar. And that's no knock... I don't have high class taste buds, and I enjoy a good Applebee's burger!

The waffle fries were a disappointment, though. They weren't crispy at all. No crunch. But they weren't soggy, either. It was weird.
My dad got the grilled cheese and soup, and he said it was good.

We both said we'd go back, but only on a spur of the moment thing. We'd probably not seek it out when we're planning ahead. And it's usually dead, so I don't think we'd ever need to plan ahead.

I will also say, the service left a lot to be desired. Not very friendly. Only came and did the necessary things. That seemed like the vibe of the entire staff. They also had a LOT of staff for the number of people there. Many were just standing around.

After Rix, we came up to the room for a bit as we decided what to do next. We chose to go walk around the Boardwalk. So we drove to DHS and took the Skyliner over. We got there just in time for the Juggling Jacks show. Then we explored a little and walked to loop around Yacht & Beach Club. We didn't spend any time there, since we'll be eating at Beaches and Cream later in the trip. We hopped back on the Skyliner and headed "home".

I watched Luminous from my bed, then we went down to the food court and got our "nightly nachos". That's what we call them, because a few years ago when we forst stayed in the Tower, we got nachos from the food court 2 or 3 nights in a row. So we dubbed them our "nightly nachos". It's become a bit of a tradition.

Now we're off to sleep. Tomorrow morning is AK for rope drop!
