Dragon Mountain

Things are really heating up as a new mountain takes shape in Tokyo Disneyland's Fantasyland, replacing the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall. Taking inspiration from the proposed "Dragon Tower" coaster for Disney's Animal Kingdom, guests board giant cauldrons hauled through the air by bats and fly through the kingdom hidden deep within the mountain where dragons - some cute, some silly, some ferocious - live. Think of it as a cross between a roller coaster and a dark ride, sort of like the Tokyo Disney equivalent of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (with inversions!).

BONUS: I imagine this would be a Vekoma creation, using their Suspended Family Coaster Phoenix system.

Shin Alien Encounter

An intense coaster added to Tomorrowland at ODL, this coaster is a sequel to the classic “Extraterrorestial Alien Encounter” attraction, keeping the intensity of the original but adapting it to a 4D Rollercoaster track as opposed to the theater in the round format, complete with the addition of SIR and other elements from the attraction, helping launch the intensely designed, round, 8-seat coaster cars brutally rocketing into the darkness of the attraction space, complete with 6 inversions and a “jump” across the rails, the vehicles also able to spin around rapidly in total darkness. Riders now have to deal with a whole swarm of extraterrorestials, not just one.

Bonus: The ride is a customized Intamin ZacSpin

Mickey's Plane Crazy Circus

Making its way to Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland (behind the train station) is a coaster like no other, where you (yes, you) will become the star of Ringmaster Mickey and the gang's circus. Partake in Mickey’s latest attempt to lead a circus, where you'll zip, zig-zag, dive, and twist through multiple circus acts, all hosted by Mickey's friends. You even start the first act by being shot out of a cannon, and you'll come face-to-face with clowns and circus animals (animatronics based on Mickey shorts), culminating in a jump through a ring of fire (you will be safe) and a “Bravo!” from Mickey.

Bonus: This will be a Vekoma launched flying coaster (I almost went with B&M here but they don't make them) with the cannon shot being the “launch”.

INDIANA JONES AND THE LOST TEMPLE GLIDERS

H 4 Lost Temple Ruins.jpg

For years, Indiana Jones and his fellow archeologists have been undertaking excavations at the "Lost Temple Ruins" deep in the furthest corner of DisneySky's Diesel Bay in Anaheim, tirelessly seeking out the greatest secrets of the sky-worshipping South Seas civilization which once lived here amongst the karsts and the swamps.

At last they've uncovered Nan Madol's greatest mystery - a fleet of otherworldly "bamboopunk" sky gliders, winged man-carrying contraptions formed of rattan and vine, hidden deep within the temple complex's sunken catacombs, a fleet which is capable of taking to the skies and soaring like birds...if the temple boobytraps aren't set off first.

Lost Temple Gliders is realized with coaster tracks appearing as bamboo scaffolding among the overgrown stone ruins, and Vekoma's next-gen flying coaster model (as seen on Phantasialand's F.L.Y.) capable of haunted temple dark ride scenes, multiple LSM launches, three high-intensity inversions, and a twisting, compact, spaghetti bowl coaster course filled with dozens upon dozens of crossovers and leg choppers and thrilling near misses!

Batuu Speeder Chase
Coming to Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios is the long-awaited Speeder Bike roller coaster, taking you through the forests and glades of Batuu beyond Black Spire Outpost! Using the same Intamin model as Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure, guests must escape the clutches of Imperial Scout Troopers who suspect espionage, dodging trees, rock formations, and waterfalls (all indoors, so the attraction operates in all weather!). The showbuilding for this showstopping attraction is built on the former location of Galactic Starcruiser, with launched straightaways through a tunnel connecting DHS to the showbuilding site.

Wicked: Defying Gravity
1749147499958.webp

Imagine that Epic Universe received a new Oz land based on Wicked, with the big e-ticket being an intense flying coaster called Wicked: Defying Gravity. Guests are launched into the skies above the Emerald City, carried by the flying monkeys, whilst a singular brave soul can have a seat on Elphaba's enchanted broomstick at the front of the ride. The coaster will defy gravity using the same "jumping the tracks" technique used in the Donkey Kong coaster.

Rocky Mountain Construction. They’re a manufacturer who got started converting older wooden coasters into “hybrid” coasters with steel track, additional supports, and inventive inversions. They have gone on to introduce their own original rides. RMCs are known for their breakneck pace and unique elements.
Also known as one of the greatest coaster manufacturers in history.

I’d say a solid 5 to 6 of their coasters would be right at home in the top 25 coasters in the world list.

Disneyland Paris gets the first Stryker coaster in a Disney theme park with the Polynesian-themed “Moana Island Blast.” Similar to the 2024 Golden Ticket’s Best New Coaster “Voltron Nevera” at Europa Park, guests will experience the thrills of a Stryker coaster—multiple launches, sharp turns, and inversions—as they follow Moana who is attempting to save her island from the evil Te Ka (a light-up animatronic). This Adventureland coaster begins with a queue through Moana’s village and includes some splash zones (note: for effect, not actually spraying guests).

Community Chest: the designer of Moana Island Blast is the company that runs Europa Park in Germany—Mack Rides.

I hope everyone is most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, and Muppetational on this solemn, tragic day.

Just a friendly reminder that this prompt is due tomorrow night at midnight, Disneyland time (PST)!

After that, we’ll be moving right along to the last prompt before the Chance card bonus is handed out to the leader, so if you want a shot at it, be sure to submit for this round!

Thorn Mountain

Sleeping-beauty-disneyscreencaps.com-7872.jpg

Unexpecting first-timers may be led to believe this is a typical Fantasyland dark ride through the story of Sleeping Beauty, maybe on a slightly higher scale, but a devilishly shocking thrill awaits further down the track...

Technically, Thorn Mountain is a launched Vekoma coaster - the same type as Expedition Everest and Big Grizzly Mountain (Hong Kong Disneyland) - which catapults guests riding in enchanted carriages backwards and forwards on a quest to rescue Princess Aurora. Are they brave enough to weather a launch over an out drawbridge, a ground cave-in, and the wrath of a giant fire-breathing dragon...?

IRON MAN: TEST FLIGHT

IMG_2315-Large.jpg

Thew newest addition to Hong Kong Disneyland continues the integration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the park's unique take on Tomorrowland, this time with an attraction that is only the second of it's kind in the world and the first installation in all of Asia.

Guests will approach a movie accurate re-creation of the Avengers compound where they will wind through a queue that takes them through the various research labs inside until they come face to face with a realistic Tony Stark animatronic that will inform guests that they will be testing out brand new Iron Man suits in preparation for an upcoming task force Tony is putting together.

Guests will then be ushered into the Suit Armory where they will board the ride vehicles (made to look like open Iron Man armor so that when the restraints close it makes riders feel they are now inside a suit) that will eventually lay them flat on their stomachs and launch them from 0-65 miles per hour and take them through half a dozen inversions, dives, twists, and turns through an outdoor training course full of obstacles, near misses, and pyro effects as they test Tony's newest tech.

COMMUNITY CHEST

Iron Man: Test Flight is the second installation of Vekoma's next gen flying coaster (following F.L.Y. at Germany's Phantasialand) that starts guests upright before transition them into the flying position at ride start.

Sugar Rush Racers

1749412483509.png

Buckle your seatbelts and jump in to the wonderful world of
Sugar Rush Racers from the fan favorite movie Wreck-it-Ralph, where you'll be able to race in this new high-octane adventure coming to the Imagination Pavillion in Epcot!

This single-rail RMC dueling coaster is designed for coaster and Disney enthusiasts of all preferences- the pink "thrill" track has cars themed to Vanellope, where you'll race in an insane looping style with 6 inversions and barrel rolls, while the orange "chill" track has cars themed to Figment, where you'll dive and hop in a lighter family-friendly layout without inversions but with many airtime hills, all while both coasters duel side by side with many surprising elements!

As the star addition to an overall Pavilion revamp (with a new Journey Through Imagination trackless dark ride), the area receives a major refresh with a mixture of the Imagination Pavillion's original inventive elements and the bright, colorful kingdom of Candy- offering unparalleled kinetics, color, and detail that will fit the coaster perfectly in.

Community Chest: The coaster uses Rocky Mountain Construction's Single-Rail system, but with a dueling coaster layout similar to the new ride YOY in Walibi Holland!

Space Mountain: Experimentation Escape

IMG_2255.jpeg

We all know that Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom is a staple of the park & Walt Disney World history, but what if it has a more intense coaster, with a horror theme? Instead of a standard, ride through space story, the rides new story will focus on something beyond scarier: Experimentation (in this case, humans being transformed into monstrosities), which this is explained in a science lab preshow where some scientists show off their human subject being transformed into a alien/monster with their questionable technology, but then the human/alien starts demolishing the lab, in which we are guided by the labs advanced helper AI system to the escape pods Yes, this lab in in space) to evict the human/alien to the depths of outer space forever. As for the ride itself, the current ride building & track are redone to include tons of inversions, show scenes, effects, & high speed launches to make this redo act as a wild ride & a horrifying experience not for the younglings.

Bonus

This will reuse the coaster system for the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Hollywood (Though the Cosmic Rewind system could also work as well).

Electric Company Reviews

For ease of reviewing, I’ll incorporate Community Chest into the body of the reviews, instead of giving it a separate bullet point (I guess I didn’t think it through too well…).

Mount Fuji Thrill

@OvertheHorizon

This is a classic armchair Imagineering concept, and for good reason. I love your execution of it, from the genesis of the ride through the volcano to the incorporation of the exhibits as the queue. I do wish there was a bit more emphasis on the actual ride experience, and I’m not a big fan of your selection of a modified Vekoma Boomerang, but nevertheless, this is a very thematically solid concept.

Dragon Mountain

@Brer Panther

What with Tokyo constantly reinventing itself, this addition is absolutely something I could see them doing. The adaptation of the Dragon Tower concept is inspired, as well. I do have some doubts about the tonal contrast created even just by your selection of dragons: for example, would the same riders who want to be flung upside down want to see the Reluctant Dragon? I mean, I probably would, but I don’t think I’m the average guest. Your selection of coaster model is excellent!

Shin Alien Encounter

@Miru

Adapting Alien Encounter into a roller coaster is brilliant, full stop. I must commend you for your fundamental theme here! However, the execution does confuse me a bit, I have to admit. Would the seat effects be incorporated into the coaster car? If so, I fear that might lead to a sensory overload that could hinder both the effects and the coaster itself. I appreciate the emphasis you’ve placed here on the experience itself!

Mickey’s Plane Crazy Circus

@Disney Warrior

I really love your vision for this. It’s a wonderful concept, and a perfect fit for Storybook Circus - the natural culmination of all of the other pieces created by the land. It has a delightfully classic style to it, and the little details like the ring of fire and cannon launch start stand out to me. My main nitpick here is that I don’t know if the presence of Mickey and Friends might turn off thrill seekers, or attract the faint-of-heart, but I’m sure there would be a workaround for that.

Indiana Jones and the Lost Temple Gliders

@D Hulk

😮 DisneySky is back!!! I remember you mentioning in the original project that Lost Temple Ruins could be refitted into a roller coaster if necessary; I’ve always wanted to see that concept come to fruition, and today’s my lucky day! Your emphasis on the ride experience is well-deserved, as it’s fleshed out and excellently described.

Batuu Speeder Chase

@Disgruntled Walt

This is another pitch that’s excellent from start to finish. Your choice of model is fitting, the incorporation into the park’s infrastructure shows the amount of thought put into this, and the indoor experience is a nice touch. My main concern here is that DHS doesn’t really need another roller coaster, what with Slinky, Rock ‘n’ Roller, and the upcoming Door Coaster. Still, I’d love to ride this!

Wicked: Defying Gravity

@Evilgidgit

WOAH WA-WA-WA WOAAAAAAAAH!

ahem. Right. With the theme-parking of Wicked looking relatively inevitable at this point, this coaster would make for the perfect main attraction for a land. My favorite part of this pitch is how the ride vehicles are set up, as I think it would be a really quite magical experience for whoever gets to ride the broom. As an aside, I’d like to thank you and everyone else who isn’t a coaster enthusiast who submitted something for this round - I appreciate it considerably!

(to throw my hat into the ring on the model, btw, I’dve gone with a B&M for the soaring, triumphant experience you describe here!)

Moana Island Blast

@ThemeParkPriest

Disneyland Paris remains as starved for expansion as ever! Going on model alone, you’ve probably chosen my favorite. Your queue is well thought out, as well - the incorporation of water is a whimsical touch. However, I must once again question the use of a family-friendly IP in a highly intense roller coaster, especially given how popular Moana is with little kids. Once again, I would love to ride this, but I have no idea if I have anything in common with the majority of guests!

Thorn Mountain

@WaltWiz1901

Sleeping Beauty is one of the only, if not the only, Disney Princess movies I can absolutely see as a high-intensity coaster. It’s got a gothic flavor that somehow makes it appropriate for the genre. Your description is excellent, as well: it gives me a perfect amount of information while leaving just enough to the imagination!

Liberty Bell Ringer

@Tegan pilots a chicken

This one leaves me feeling surprisingly conflicted! On one hand, this kind of roller coaster is far and away the kind of thing I’d love to ride, and I’m always down for replacing HoP (sorry to all of you Hall of Presidents enjoyers). On the other, I can’t imagine a world where this exists and doesn’t completely shatter the immersion of my favorite area in Magic Kingdom. Like I said: conflicted! I appreciate the stats you included, and the image is a lot of fun as well.

Iron Man: Test Flight

@Mr. Sullivan

Ooh, I do love this. Did anyone else have the childhood experience of their friends describing the superhero coasters at your local Six Flags like they were immersive, high-tech, SFX extravaganzas? This feels like those descriptions made real. This certainly fits the intensity bill, and would make for a great addition to Hong Kong Disneyland!

Sugar Rush Racers

@Architectural Guinea Pig

Agh, you’ve combined two of my greatest weaknesses: Figment and Wreck-It Ralph! I’m a big fan of the dueling nature of these two tracks, as well as the touch of having one be intense and the other family-friendly. I’m less of a fan of what this would do to the thematics of EPCOT, although that ship sailed a very, very long time ago. But you threw me a bone with a JII revamp!

Space Mountain: Experimentation Escape

@Half/CartoonHalf/Human

Wow, you took the intensity part of this prompt to the extreme here! Space Mountain needs to be redone eventually, and this is certainly a way of going about that. The preshow you describe would definitely work as an effective scare barrier, although I do worry about running into the Alien Encounter problem with Magic Kingdom. Still, this is a well-crafted pitch!
